My Dog was breaking out with hives on her stomach and spitting up blood caused from very low red blood cells. The older Lady Vet WOULD NOT GIVE UP untill she found out the problem. She is the best Vet in this part of the world. They charged me $2400 for a plasma transfusion then credited me back $700 or $800 saying they over charged me (imagine that) So, Pricey but this place CAN and WILL save your Pet's (family member) life.

Know what your talking about before you post!

FACT: SETAEC is NOT under any circumstances a FREE animal clinic. Would you go into walmart and demand they give you your food and supplies on the basis that you promise to return and pay? No? I don't think that would go down to well. This animal emergency hospital runs on the same basis. If you can not afford to house, feed, and maintain your pets health then WHY do you have one to begin with, or why would you allow it to become pregnant knowing the risks involved? It is not THEIR fault that your animal was unsupervised and allowed to drink chemicals, nor is it their fault if your dog is pregnant and having trouble delivering the puppies. The SETAEC is run by board members who set forth the rules. So try to understand that the person your yelling at over the phone and the doctors who care for your pets have to follow those rules. Secondly, they can NOT give you information over the phone because that makes them liable if YOU screw it up.
This does not run like a human hospital, those who are naive to think so should reconsider owning a pet. If you do not pay for your services then the hospital goes broke, then your choices would be either Lake Charles, La. or Houston. That alone is the main reason human hospital bills are so high. Your paying for all of the people that "promised" to come back and pay.
They provide a service that no one else does during the night time, weekend, and holiday hours. The doctors and the staff do not have magic wands, but they ARE wonderful people, not animal killers. They have treated several of my animals with curiosity and professionalism among MANY other people as well. The owners who have an animal they can't afford to treat are the responsible parties there if their animal dies, not the people who strive to save everything that comes through their door to the best of their ability.
So if you want the best care and knowledgeable doctors at 2am when no one else is available to help, SETAEC IS the best place to go. Don't be blinded by people who are angry that they didn't get free services or that were asked to pay for their services and are angry that they couldn't. They also offer care credit as an alternative source, which no one here seems to have mentioned.

Last but not least, might I add that one of these ratings is completely incorrect, the gentleman didn't even attempt to go into the hospital, he just called. It was never a forgotten wallet, and IF that had been the case would he have ran home and grabbed it? So he wasn't turned away just as an FYI. I'd be concerned about a lawsuit suing him for slander and liable if I were him, since there is no record of him visiting tonight. Secondly, the telecheck that was denied... if it was morning time, why would you just run down the road to an ATM or your bank and pull the money out if it was there?

::It's better to let people assume your stupid; than to speak and remove all doubt.::

SETAEC customer, because I AM responsible for whatever may happen to my pets.

The 3 times I have used this facility, they have been negligent, money-hungry and even callous. 1st injured dachshund hit by golf-cart, told ok, just bruised, paid for xrays and lab work there. They missed a fractured pelvis. 2nd time, same dog recovering from injuries, weekend vomiting blood. paid for labs sent home w/ nausea med. Back to Dr. Willie Monday, bleeding internally. #3 takes the cake. My sister rescued a 5 week old kitten & he was just getting over an infection. Stupid jr terrier broke through a gate , grabbed &shook him for a few shakes. My sister brought the kitten to see Dr. Holland Friday night. 2 hours of waiting, others came & left, Dr. Holland told her she could find nothing except. SHE NEVER DISCUSSED A POSSIBILE HEAD INJURY....NO PT ED ON WARNING SIGNS, NO OFFER TO KEEP THE KITTEN FOR OBS &..LAUGHED WHEN TOLD THAT THE KITTEN WAS SHAKEN BY A DOG.

Yesterday, kitten vomiting, not moving, dying in agonizing from a brain bleed. But, they got their $$$$.

These people have no idea what they are doing. They put our dog to sleep for an infection they said had spread and could not be cured. It actually could have been treated, and we would still have our dog with us today. We also had him cremated there, and we never received his collar with his ashes. I cannot stand this place. Please don't risk taking your pets there.

My 10 year old chihuahua was very sick and diagnosed with pyometra. Took her to this emergency animal hospital and they treated her overnight with an IV filling her with antibiotics and anti- inflammatory mess. They did a great job with her. I was thankful I happened to have the extra money to pay for the care as she probably wouldn't have made it through the weekend. She is scheduled for surgery today with local vet to have a hysterectomy and hopefully she will be on her way to a full recovery.

My dog had a UTI which I thought was life threatening and she was treated with dignity and respect despite the fact she smelled awful due to the infection. I hesitated to bring her here after reading the poor rato gs but I'm glad I did.

Just sad to have to pay $100 to find out you wont put stitches in our dog's ear for less than $500. Monday will surely be too late for stitches. Maybe he won't get an infection before then. Maybe we can scrape up enough money to go to our regular vet now...

Awesome!

Doctor and assistants were compassionate, patient, and knowledgeable. They truly cared about my pet's illness and were very professional. They spent a lot of time with us and we're very thorough with my pet's examination. I love this place!

Well, first for anyone to turn...

Well, first for anyone to turn an injured animal away having the proper equipment to deal withe injury is wrong. I understand as far as paying for your service and I very much agree, however an accident is called an accident for a reason... You can never be fully prepared for an accident. We have all had financial issues, wheel a lot of us have and it's hard when u get into a bind and cannot afford care for ur animal, but u should never expect free handouts. I guess point being mine anyways no animal deserves to be turned away and left to suffer in some cases animal healthcare providers may not be obligated but out of care and compassion I believe every healthcare provider, human or animal should at least consider the circumstances .

As far as my experience goes I had a female mini daschound go into labor in the middle of the night and this doctor that I talked to, she did not jump the gun and tell me to come n, she was very polite and professional and she showed compassion for my situation. Had it not been for her my dog and her unexpected time of going into labor at 2 am would probably not have done so well the pups would probably not have survived. Thank you for your time and advice. I was well on my way to doing the wrong thing for my dog, after I spoke with this female vet I felt very comfortable letting my dog alone to take care of her business. Thank you dr. So much

I just wanted to extend my app...

I just wanted to extend my appreciation for the staff at the emergency clinic. Twice in the 10 year life of my beloved cocker spaniel they were there to rescue her. Once for poision control as a puppy , and again, recently, to end her suffering following a tragic accident with fatal injuries. Both instances they showed complete compassion and concern for my family, both human and canine. We will be forever grateful to the caring spirits we encountered in both visits. A million times, THANK YOU! You will forever hold a place in our hearts!

Spent almost $1,000.00 with no diagnosis

with no diagnosis of any kind, not even an idea. our beagle had gone into seizures on a saturday night of all times. we had no choice but to call our family vet and see what they had listed on their answering machine as far as where to bring your pet in case of an emergency. this place was what they had listed. so we rushed her there. they did give her a valium to calm her and brought her temp down from what the seizures had caused. my problem with this place is that after having her from saturday night till monday morning, when we picked her up, they , or the vet there on staff still did not have any kind of clue as to what might be going on with our dog given her history, or what should be a seasoned vet's knowledge of animals. all they could tell my daughter when she went to pick her up after me, her mom, put $100.00 down, paying $500.00 through care credit and then paying another $288.00 out of pocket when we picked her up, was that it must be something neurological. well you think!!?? i could not believe it!! my daughter then was able to bring her to her regular vet which immediately gave her different and definant scenarios as to what could be going on. she is there right now being monitored over night and i have full confidence in that he will be able to tell us something about her condition when we go to pick her up. we will not be in the dark like this expensive emerg. vet place kept us. all they did was suck up our money and gave nothing in return except i can say they kept our dog alive. i really expected to walk away with a lot more than empty pockets. i will look online for other emergency vet stations, if any, to keep from going to this money sucker, dont do nothing crap hole. i really believe they do take you for everything your worth when you go there. it wouldve been worth it had they given us something about her condition, but they did not. will never go there again if i can help it. by the way, if any of those reading this would like to know for their own info as to what her regular vet said could be causing these seizures in what is usually a very healthy dog was 1. an inner ear infection 2. distempher (which she did have a vacc for) but cold possibly still get 3. neurological. good news is that if he finds it is something he can treat he will be giving her seizure preventive meds. now why couldnt this other place have done that??

Worst Experience - IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET DO NOT GO HERE

My dog was very sick we thought he was poisoned. Our regular vet was closed my wife drove 45 min to get to this hospital. I had called ahead of time from Colorado to let the vet know that she would be coming and the situation as several other dogs on our street had been poisoned in the last two months and taken to this vet hospital. My wife arrived and due to the fact that she did not have $350.00 on a credit card they refused to care for my best friend (dog), or take a family members credit card. They sent her away with a pain shot only for the dog which cost us $125.00 well at least he will not be in pain when he dies thanks to the vet hospital that is only in business for the money not for the true love and care of animals. I would say you are better off saving your time and gas money going to another vet!

I did get a hold of my vet later Dr. Benton at Silsbee Animal clinic he said he would make a special trip in after hours and worry about the money later, he was truly concerned about my Dog.

heartless animal killers!!!

I turned to the southeast texas emergency animal clinic in a time of need, but since my credit was " less than perfect" and did not think to grab my wallet while my cat was vomiting and screeching, they simply turned me away at the door. my cat later that night passed on. I asked for at least some advice, but since i had no cash on me my cat didnt matter to the so called clinic. I later came to find out that if i would have flushed the cats stomache with water instead of inducing vomitting she more than likely would have surrvived... thanks seta

Warning

Unless you have a pocketful of cash or a credit card with a high limit, don't endanger your pet's life with this bunch! Took my pregnant, in labor for 5 hours, dog to them. After three hours of Dr. Graham trying to "induce" labor, telecheck rejected my debit card with a balance well over the amount, my check on the same account and could only give the reasons of: My check number was too low; no history with them; or my financial institution doesn't release information to them. The "deposit" required was $1229. For 3 hours, 3 shots, and 2 Xrays, the balance due was $259, which telecheck accepted, and Dr. Graham sent my dog home to die!! By the time I could get someone to come and get the dog, since I was working the next day, it was 8 a.m., so the dog had now been in labor over 13 hours, minimum. When they arrived with the dog, Dr. Graham began to belittle me to Dr. Dobson and then proceeded to belittle the person who had brought the dog in, possibly unaware that every word she spoke could be heard in the waiting room.
