STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE

On September 2, 2006 I bought an iPod Nano 4GB at the Barboursville, WV Best Buy location along with the 2 year replacement warranty plan. The Sales Clerk who sold me the product stated it was necessary because if anything goes wrong with the iPod it has to be sent to Apple, and it takes awhile to get it back. With this warranty, I was assured I could bring the iPod into the store and you would replace it. He explained to us that the warranty covered everything, even if the product was dropped.

Less than three months later, I turned on the iPod on and it would not turn on at all. I went on the internet and followed their instructions very carefully and that did not solve the problem.

I was disappointed, but knew I was covered because I just purchased the iPod and if Apple’s warranty did not cover it, the store warranty we purchased would, since that is what I was told by the clerk.

When I took the iPod back to Best Buy, the clerk took it away from me without saying a word. She went into the back room behind closed doors and came back a few minutes later showing me a small scratch on the back. She said because of that very small scratch they could not take it back because Apple would say I damaged it. I asked about the store warranty I purchased and they said that it wasn't covered either. When I talked to the Manager, on duty she was very rude to me. I asked her about the promise that the clerk told me, the Manager's reply was, "I am not calling you a lair but I know my clerks, and they would never say that!"

I am a 51 year old woman that took extremely good care of this iPod and used it very little. No one else even touched the iPod and it was kept inside the velvet case it came with and inside a small zipper in my purse that nothing else was inside of. I never had a scratch on it when it went into that store.

Not only I am out $250 for the iPod but also $40 for a warranty that clearly does not live up to what I was promised. I feel this was misrepresented to me before I purchased the item, nor was it disclosed to us about the problems with Apple.

I contacted the Store Manager, who said he would refund my $40 that I paid for the store warranty. When I checked my statement from Best Buy, I was only refunded $38.47 which was prorated for the two months that I had the warranty.

I spent $307.38 at this store and had nothing to show for it.

I took the iPod to another store that sells the same item, and the Manager, along with other staff, examined the iPod. They informed me that it was not damaged, but normal wear and tear and that should have never been brought up as an issue. That Manager exchanged it for a newer model, no questions ask. They also checked the iPod on their machine and it would not register anything, making us think that I had one with a manufacturing defect.

horrible experience

This is the worst store EVER! Warranty was a joke. Very rude staff, especially geek squad. Just buy your computer, etc from walmart.

GEEK SQUAD, ESPECIALLY LEADER JACK STINK

I PURCHASED A PC AND 2 LAPTOPS FROM THIS STORE. THE PC I WANTED WAS NOT AVAILABLE EXCEPT AS A DISPLAY SO I AGREED TO TAKE THAT ONE. MY HUSBAND AND I USED THE LAPTOPS EXCLUSIVELY, LEAVING THE PC FOR THE GRANDKIDS. AT A LATER DATE, DISCOVERED THAT THIS PROGRAM THAT KEPT POPPING UP ON REBOOT, WAS EXCLUSIVE TO BEST BUYS DISPLAYS AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN REMOVED (DISCOVERED THIS AT ANOTHER BEST BUY IN LEXINGTON KY). I TOOK THE TOWER BACK AND THEY WERE INDIFFERENT AND NEARLY RUDE WHEN I COMPLAINED (I WAS NOT MEAN ABOUT IT HOWEVER I DID TELL THEM THAT THE GEEK SQUAD MANAGER IN LEXINGTON SAID THAT IT NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED). ANYWAY, NOW WE ARE USING THE PC, AND I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT BEST BUY WAS LEFT ON THE COMPUTER AS THE ADMINISTRATOR AND THEREFORE A LOT OF PROGRAMS WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO PARTICIPATE BECAUSE I AM NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR. I CALLED THEM TO ASK HOW I CAN CHANGE THE ADMINISTRATOR TO "ME" FROM "BEST BUY" AND I WAS INFORMED THAT I HAVE TO BRING THE TOWER BACK AND THEY HAVE TO REFORMAT THE HARDDRIVE,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,YES THAT'S RIGHT. I AM GOING TO LOSE EVERYTHING. DO YOU THINK THAT THEY EVEN OFFERED TO BACK IT UP TO ANOTHER HARD DRIVE FOR ME? NOPE, THEY SURE DID NOT.

NOW HOW WOULD YOU RATE THEM?
