Very unhappy with service here!! Unnecessary treatment/vaccines given and extra visits scheduled to collect more money. Inattention to detail and vet looked over pertinent info about previous visits and previous care clearly stated in records. Do not recommend this place to anyone will be finding another vet for our puppy.

After charging $200 for fluids my dog nearly died due to infection when they said she was only dehydrated. Rude staff, and they are unorganized and can't keep up with families pets.

LOVE ST F!

I disagree 100% with the negative reviews. The St Francis staff and Drs are always friendly and caring. Everything has always been fully explained and options and advice given on the best care of my pets. Prices are actually comparable or lower than other area hospitals. We LOVE St Francis!

This is the only veterinarian practice that a busy single pet owner should consider because:

1. 24 hour access is not just for emergency visits. You have 24 hour access for picking up and dropping off your pet for his regular priced daytime appts. If your dog is sick (like mine have been at times), you have a vet and tech monitoring him 24 hours right there in the back where all of the action is– best part of that is you have different docs entering notes in the computer and all are putting their heads together the entire time trying to figure out what is wrong to determine the best treatment for him. They will let you (and encourage you to) come in and visit with your sick pet in the evenings. If you board your dog there, you can pick up and drop off your dog any day and at any time. You can also stop by to pick up meds, bring your dog for most technician work at the daytime fee (lab work, nail trims, etc.).

2. Excellent and knowledgeable staff-vets, techs and front desk. I’ve seen the same staff there for YEARS and that says a lot.

My experience? I've been taking my (almost) 14 yr old Australian shepherd to Dr. David Tribby since she was 3 months old. But, she’s been treated by all of the vets at St. Francis over the years. I rescued an Aussie puppy a year ago and he was extremely sick. I’d been told by others that St. Francis was more expensive than other vets but since I’d never gone anywhere else, I had no comparison. But I decided to try to “save money” and take my sick pup to Banfield with the “free exam” coupon then to another smaller vet practice for additional care. Both vets were great and knowledgeable but, in retrospect, I saw no cost savings. Because of my demanding work schedule, limited appt availability at the other practices and my skepticism of any real cost savings, I took him to Dr. Tribby. Bottom line, Dr. Tribby and the other vets at St. Francis (as well as their incredibly intelligent technicians) saved my puppy’s life. When I finally pulled out the other vet receipts, I noticed HUGE variability between the 3 practices re: fees for exams, labs, various procedures and meds…and St. Francis was not only competitive but actually LESS than the others for some of the expenses incurred. They’ve taken incredible care of both of by babies as well as a cat I had for several years. If you have an older dog or a sickly dog, time is of the essence regarding access to care. A demanding job or a hectic work schedule might tempt you to “wait and see” or put off that vet appt another day or two. But, you don’t have to do that with the flexibility that St. Francis offers…and that alone is priceless.

I've never had a problem with this vet until recently. My dog had a large tumor on his paw and we took him into St. Francis to get checked out. The vet said it was absolutely nothing to worry about it was just a cyst. He took some blood and promised to call us the next day. We never got a call. The vet also said our dog had a “floating rib” and this was normal. We later found out that “floating rib” was another cancerous tumor. They charged us over $200.00 just for that. We came in two days later because our dog was worse. A different vet found the paw tumor was severely infected and gave our dog some medicine. Our dog did not improve and had to come in a third time. This time we saw a family friend and she urged us to go to a specialty vet in Columbia immediately. The vet in Columbia found a very aggressive cancer. Our dog died two days later.

St. Francis' only concern seems to be money and if the first vet did a proper examination the first time we came in our dog could have suffered less and may have lived a little longer.

St. Francis also “snuck in” an annual visit for another charge without our consent.

Wish I'd never heard of St Fran. My little dog died because of their repeated mistakes. My mistake was to take her there. After 4 visits in 11 days, I finally realized how incompetent they were. I then took her to another vet that diagnosed her problem in about 10 minutes. Sadly too much time had been wasted at St Fran and it was too late for treatment. I guess the vets at St Fran have not heard of an x-ray. It's been 4 weeks & I'm still crying. My daughters stopped going to St Fran because of problems they had experienced there. I wish I had changed vets sooner than later.

After moving to the Augusta area 8 years ago, my husband and I tried a few different veterinary clinics. We weren't happy with any of them. Finally, about 5 years ago we discovered SFAH. We along with our 2 dogs are very happy with their services. When boarding them, the kennels are equipped with a web cam so you can check on them 24 hours a day. The clinic is staffed 24/7 so there is always somebody there. Our older Golden tore his CCL in April and had to have surgery. The surgery went well with no complications. They are very caring with your animals and sensitve to your needs.
