If I told my best friend about...

If I told my best friend about this place, I'd say: Don't make the same mistake as I did. Go to a practice who has time, knowledge and interest in you. I wish I knew then what I know now about this practice and the head doctor in this practice, Randolph Smith. I don't understand why some of his patients get professional care and others don't deserve any attention. You shouldn't have to wonder if you'll be a lucky or an unlucky one at this practice. This doctor will have to live with the way he did me. He can be all wonderful to some patients, but he knows how he did me - also GOD knows. I made the mistake of seeing this doctor when he obviously had more important things to do than see a patient. He was getting an award soon from his alumni - obviously his head was so big and he thought he was to big and important to waste any time on a patient. He did have time to tell me that I looked like zorro had been on my face. This doctor has so much class! I guess this is all I needed to know since it was all I was told. I wonder if he has ever told another patient this. Perhaps he needs to teach his colleagues how to talk and act toward their patients. Maybe he or someone may have the occasion to tell their patient that it looks like "Jack the Ripper" was on their body. Surely, I can't be the only one for him to bestow his classy communication skills and compassionate ways on. I sure wish I'd seen a doctor who had been professional. I would have preferred to have had a doctor who took his job seriously and had acted like a doctor should have. When the "best doctors" were chosen, many doctors were recognized for earning this title. I noticed Randolph Smith and his practice weren't recognized. In order to be one of the best, you need to treat all patients professionally, be knowledgeable, be considerate, be compassionate, and have time and interest in every patient. If you know your job and you take it seriously, then share your knowledge by communicating to your patient. It's part of the job, plus it's the decent thing to do. I hope one day Randolph Smith will realize what he did to me - was not right. He's never told me he was sorry for the way he did me - He must not be! He may tell others I'm crazy, but GOD knows the truth. I just wish I had known how he was before I got messed up by him!

Perhaps he is a good doctor

Maybe there is a good doctor at this practice. I hope so. I just know that one of the doctors at this practice is not at all professional. He has no time to answer any of your questions or explain anything to you. The doctor I'm talking about is Randolph Smith He is in leadership at the University Hospital and this practice. What makes one doctor at this practice so exceptional and the one I saw was not at all good. Why couldn't all of the doctors at this practice be exceptional. It looks like they have the wrong doctor on the board of the hospital. Whoever represents the hospital should be professional and have an interest in his patients. The person I saw should not have the title doctor because he was not what a doctor should be. Maybe there is hope for this practice with this Dr. Ewart.

Dr. Ewart, disagrees with the doctor who thinks being board certified does not necessarily make you a better surgeon. He thinks the certification process is a rigorous process that essentially weeds out those surgeons who are not or have not yet become competent and safe. If you are comtemplating cosmetic surgery of any kind, please make sure your surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. I agree with Dr. Ewart this is very important. But what good is this certification and all of the impressive credentials, if a doctor does not have time for his patient. All that knowledge and skill is useless. So having the proper certification and training is important, but your partner, Dr. Smith should have some common sense as well. PLEASE see a doctor who is certified, but see a doctor who thinks you are important and is interested in seeing YOU! Dr. Ewart, why is it that your partner, Dr. Smith, has so much potential, but is so unprofessional, incompetent and not safe?

I e-mailed augplastic.com recently. I had hoped one of the staff would have the decency to tell me what was done to me, how it was done, and why it was done on just a bump over a year ago. I heard from a Sandy Woodward. I assume I was to meet with her and Dr. Smith July 21st. On July 16th, I was informed they would not meet with me. I guess I will have to get my records. I will get the answers to my questions. Dr. Ewart was whatever Dr. Smith did to me without first informing me or getting my say on whether it was done or not - was it appropriate, wise, safe or necessary?. Dr. Smith is suppose to be a good doctor, just like you are suppose to be a good doctor. I believe you would have done things a lot different than Dr. Smith did. I don't know what Dr. Smith was thinking, he obviously was not thinking. How can a doctor choose some patients to be professional with and others choose to just ignore. Is he bi-poler or what? Does your partner,Dr. Smith, hand pick who he thinks is worthy to be treated professional and others are nothing to him but a waste of his time. I hope you and Dr. Lynn take the time to examine, consult, consider your patient's feelings and have interest in all of your patients not just a few.

Why does Dr. Smith treat his patients like they don't exist? Do you know what this does to a person? It has messed me up to know this doctor had no feelings or consideration for me. If a consult had been given like it should have, I would not be writing now because this procedure would not have been done. Is that why I had no consult? If you know the patient will not have the procedure done, then don't tell them, just do it! Is this how your older partner does business? If you advertise a personal and private consultation, then give the patient one. The patient should know what is going to be done and they should have a say on whether it is done or not. I hope you don't follow Dr. Smith's work ethics. Perhaps he has gotten too old and has forgotten that the patient is vital to his work. Dr. Ewart, don't be like Dr. Smith!

A great Physician!

I have been going to see Dr.Ewart few times now, and I could not ask for a better Doctor, he answered all my questions, and I had many, explained the procedure in details, and the results are wonderful.

After the procedure was over, he again ask if I had other questions, I am fully satisfied and will continue to go to him.

I like to add that his Nurse, is pleasant, professional and make me feel at ease.

If you are thinking about having something done, I would recommand him to anyone.

What is a Z-plasty?

Why isn't this procedure listed in procedures that are done at this practice? I know I had never heard of this procedure. I sure would have liked to have known that there was a procedure that is suppose to help scars. Problem is I had no scars until one of the doctors at this practice did one on me to remove a hair follicle on my face. It looks like this doctor would have had the decency to inform me of this procedure. I would never have agreed to it, so perhaps that is why I was not told about it. This practice says they have personal and private consultation, but with this doctor it is not with him, it is with a computer. It is bad when a procedure is done that is not necessary and is rediculous. This practice or doctor is really money hungry to disfigure and _______ up a face to remove a bump. I guess this doctor does whatever he wants since he is a big shot at the hospital. He or someone(possibly a student) did a sloppy job, If you don't know what you are doing, don't do it! This doctor is not professional. Everyday I look at my face, I regret making the mistake of seeing this so called doctor. He made a lot of mistakes also. Mistakes that were costly to me! He could care less, he has no compassion, he is just in it for the money. So put Z-plasty on the list of procedures done at this practice. So at least when it is done on another person without their knowledge. It will be easier to figure out, instead of having to guess the mess of a procedure that is not listed. Beware of this practice, especially the doctor who want tell you what he is going to do. Perhaps, he did not know what he was doing. Every doctor I've seen since then, thinks that.

I've wriiten many reviews on this doctor at Augusta Plastic Surgery. I've come to the conclusion that this doctor has no compassion, no time, or no interest for some patients. How could a doctor treat one patient decent and treat another like they don't exist. I would like to go to a doctor who will treat all patients equally. It cost a lot to see this doctor and you should get what you pay for - an exam, a consult, and actually being able to see the doctor more than a few seconds. This practice advertises a personal and private consultations, but I didn't get one. Now in a commercial they are asking people to call for a consult. Don't bother. I called in March 2008 and I still am waiting for my consult. I even e-mailed their website and asked for someone to finally tell me what I should have been told a year and a half ago. No one would. I had to go on the internet to guess what was done to me. I believe it was a z-plasty. This procedure is for scar revisions. It seems a straight incision would be too noticeable and have to much tension, so they do a zigzag incision instead. This is rediculous. This procedure calls for two triangle skin flaps to be cut from someplace and you end up with a z incision. Most people would not want this done on their face, especially a woman. I wouldn't have agreed to it, perhaps that is why I was never told about it or had a say. I had no problem and this procedure wasn't necessary, but it was done anyway. One of Dr. Smith's colleagues said this procedure is Dr. Smith's specialty. He loves doing them. I did not find, what he did, to be done good, but then I did not know what was being done much less what to expect afterwards. The one person who would always be affected by what was done - was left out of the plan. Dr. Smith did not think I needed to know or have a say.. My face has gone through a lot of trauma. I have seen many of Dr. Smith's colleagues. Some have tried to help, one told me to massage the knots and puckered up areas and in time it might improve. I did this and it did improve. The blob of mess that Dr. Smith left on my face fell apart. I appreciate what help I've gotten this past year or so, but the greatest physician I've gone to has been GOD. Everytime I had an area that would not heal, red, or swollen I would pray to GOD and it would improve. My face will never be the same, it has scars, etc, but I pray it will continue to improve. Please be wiser than me - don't go to a doctor who has no time for you, This past year and a half has been terrible. I have missed out on so much, I have avoided people and places. I will never get back the time I lost this past year. Dr. Smith why didn't you take the time to do the things that a doctor should do? Board Certified and Not Board Certified doctors would have. All of your colleagues would have. Then why didn't you take the time to examine me, acknowledge me, and consult with me if needed. Was a Z-plasty really necessary. I think before you cut up a person's face - you should inform them of the procedure, the risks, and the aftercare. I sure wish I had been told - before you just did it. Remember it's not your decision to make on your own - the patient should always have the final say on what is done or not done.

Your partner, Dr. Ewart, says seeing a Board Certified doctor assures you of seeing a competent and safe doctor. Certification is good, but useless if the doctor has no time or interest in the patient. Learn to treat all your patients equally, everyone of them should be important and treated with respect. So should you call for a consult? What consult? When and with Who? I am still waiting. I guess Dr. Smith thinks some people just don't deserve to know what was done, how it was done, or why it was done? I hope other doctors and colleagues do think their patients are important. Some doctors realize if it weren't for the patients, they would not be needed.

unprofessioal doctor

One of the doctors in this practice does not take the time to be the professional doctor he should be. It is expensive to see this doctor, so when you make an appointment you would think the doctor would at least take the time to examine you and talk to you. The doctor should consult with you about the procedure you need done. He should explain the name of the procedure, what is involved in doing the procedure, the risks involved and aftercare of the procedure. I think the patient is entitled to know this information. After the patient has been informed about the procedure, they should have the opportunity to agree or disagree on having the procedure done. If they agree, they should have to sign a consent form stating the procedure that is to be done before the doctor does the procedure. None of this was done. I had a z-plasty done to my face. I did not know such a thing existed. If the doctor had explained this procedure like he was suppose to do before he did it I would have said NO to it. Who would want multi-cuts in the shape of a z and skin flaps cut into their face? This doctor does not feel it is important to reveal this information to his patient. He has no compassion or feelings for his patients. This doctor wanted to show this procedure to a student and he needed a fool to do it on. He knew if he had told me what he was going to do he would no longer have a fool to do it on.. This z-plasty was not even necessary. I'm sure he knows the difference from a hair follicle and a skin cancer, but he just didn't care he wanted to impress this student and wanted to make some money He must not even know how to do this procedure because it came undone in less than 3 months. What kind of work does this doctor do? I would have appreciated the doctor consulting with me and giving me the opportunity to know what he was planning to do and giving me the opportunity to make a decision on whether to do this or not..Which the answer would have been NO. But I was never given that opportunity. It is bad when you have to go on the internet to find out what was done to you, because the doctor does not have the time or interest in telling you. Hopefully he will one day treat his patients like he would want to be treated. I've learned a valuable lesson, don't do something in haste, wait and see a doctor who knows what they are doing and has the time and interest in you as their patient. Believe me I'll be smarter in the future.
