A 1971 graduate of Texas A&M University, Dr. Gerald received his medical degree in 1974 from the University Of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of South Carolina in Charleston (1975), followed by an Ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans (1975-1978).
