Food City

Food City is overall just an exquisite, top-notch, amazing grocery store! I haven’t found a single competitor that even comes nearly close to the service I get at this store. It is honestly mind blowing how nice and friendly all employees are that work at these fantastic stores. Prices are very low considering they run sales all the dang time and I definitely appreciate that as a shopper who loves saving money!! I would recommend all Food City’s to anyone and everyone looking to get great prices and be treated with manners and class! 10/10 would recommend thank you Food City!

I have recently made a trip to this store to buy some sake as a host gift for a party I was going to and had my (underage) brother with me and even though I was of age (several years over 21) and had my license to prove it they wouldn't sell it to me because he wasn't 21. To say the least it was awkward and the woman in charge of the registers (it was self checkout) handled it rather unprofessionally and rudely. There were people around and it was just uncomfortable. It's not an experience that I would relish reliving and was all the more bizarre since I was of age. Then when I tried to say something to the manger once I was home he insisted that this was a law (I checked before I called and it isn't one) . To make it even more weird I went to another Food City (with my brother) and they sold it to me no problem and were completely polite about it ( I probably should have gone there first anyway since the store in Abingdon really isn't the best but that's beside the point....) I definitely wouldn't recommend this store for an alcohol purchase (especially if you have an underage child with you...) Also it really isn't very clean there (there's a smell that for some mysterious reason is always there). If you have to go to a Food City the one at exit 7 is a much better choice.
