        Great Room - Not So Great Staff

        Our room was awesome. Very clean & comfy. What ruined it for us was the rude staff and horrible tasting free breakfast!

        This Hampton Inn on the southwest side of Abilene is not the newest HI in town nor the swankiest, but it's somewhere near the top of the hotel list for this town (as of June 2008). The comp breakfast is actually pretty good, and the breakfast room is neat and well decorated. The rooms are quite bright and clean even if they're not the newest ones in town.



        Plenty of free parking. Indoor pool and hot tub. Interior doors. Meeting rooms. Vending machines. And the location is excellent; convenient to all sorts of shopping (WalMart, Academy, Abilene's Mall, etc.) and Abilene's "restaurant row." Can't beat the location.



        Automated front doors would be nice for guests lugging luggage.



        And the rates are quite competitive with the other hotels that are located on this side of town.



        Free wireless Internet was clocked at an unexceptional 1435 down and an unbelievable 1340 up! (Wireless only; no ethernet.)



        And the fabulous beds are fully up to the Hampton standard, which is to say the very very best in the entire lodging industry. Big fluffy pillows too. The beds alone are worth the ticket price. And the AC will almost make ice, which is nice when you're out here in West Texas in the summer time.



        We'll come here again.
