Business Disputes
Mr. Silverii received his Juris Doctor from Southwestern University, School of Law in 1979, and bachelor's degree from California State University at Northridge. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1979, and began practicing civil litigation in the areas of liability defense and business law. Mr. Silverii is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Southern and Central Districts of California. Mr. Silverii also participated in a special pro bono program with the Office of the Los Angeles City Attorney, and prosecuted criminal jury trials. Also, when Mr. Silverii was doing business litigation, he was an attorney for the plaintiff in the landmark case of Baar v. Tigerman (1983) 140 Cal.App.3d 979, in which the immunity protection for arbitrators was pierced. As a result, Mr. Silverii has authored various articles on arbitration, including one entitled “Commercial Arbitration-Safeguards Needed?” (4 CEB California Business Law Rptr.)
