Academics Aikido

I have encountered many dojos over the years but my ultimate favorite is Academics Aikido. Training here is so much better than just going to the gym to run the treadmill or lifting some weights. Aikido training gives me a great workout while learning a martial art. Sensei Jan Pop is very caring and puts a lot of attention into instructing his students. I've been studying here with my kids for about a year and it has been very enjoyable. My one younger child attends the kids class, while I attend the older class with my daughter. Everyone is taught at their own pace. For the beginners he is very good at emphasizing the basics especially learning ukemi (falling techniques), so everyone can perform the techniques with a high degree of safety. For the more advance students he covers a variety of advanced techniques along with adding finesse to more basic ones. Whether your goal is to exercise, learn a martial art, or spend additional family time with your kids, Academics Aikido is highly recommended in my book!
