Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Let’s get back to the hands for a moment. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a pinched nerve in the wrist that usual arises from repetitive motion, such as typing. It can cause numbness or weakness in your thumb, index and middle fingers. It can also cause pain in your neck and shoulder. If you’re not working ergonomically, you could be contributing to this condition. You may need a wrist rest in front of your keyboard.

I first came to see Dr. Rice for very stubborn Sciatica and deteriorating low back disk problem that caused numbness in my entire right leg and pain in the upper left leg. I could not walk or stand for any period of time without pain. My general practitioner (MD) recommended acupuncture.

I have a severely herniated disc in my lower back. I don’t know how long I’ve had the condition but it has been a problem for a couple of decades. When I have had flair-ups, my doctor treated me with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and he would recommend physical therapy. Each had a modest positive effect on reducing the pain but neither eliminated it. My last visit to this doctor ended with a rather bleak outlook. He didn’t want to continue with the drugs and neither did I. He didn’t think the problem was severe enough the warrant surgery so the physical therapy was about it. I knew it was helping, so I continued with this, on my own. For the most part, I was able to stay ahead of the pain.
