West Hills Montessori

When my husband and I were looking for a school for our son 4 years ago, we looked at close to ten schools in the area and finally decided to place him at the school currently named West Hills Montessori. We loved that we had found a school where our son would learn to learn. We have been impressed with his academic and developmental progress. The teachers are caring and knowledgeable. Since then, our daughter attended that school from age 2 and we are planning to start our third child at 18 months. The school changed ownership over a year ago, and I can honestly say that the new owners (Jeff and JoAnne) are constantly looking to better the school and care about the children. My daughter has been learning French from Jeff and would never leave the school without giving JoAnne a hug. I have been happy with the teachers and the skills imparted to my children during their stay at West Hills Montessori.

Over the past 6 years I have sent my 2 children to West Hills Montessori. Both have thrived here, gaining more than enough academic skills and knowledge to prepare them for elementary school (my oldest is now in a magnet and has been doing great!) The teachers at this school have been wonderful! They helped develop and support both my children’s academic and social confidence. My kids always attended the summer program too. They loved the fun activities geared towards learning (i.e. mad science laboratory) and the water play days. The school also puts on seasonal shows that the students perform in, which has been such a highlight for me as a parent! The owners, Jeff and JoAnne, have put an incredible amount of time and effort into making many improvements around the school. They both are very involved, and really care about each and every student. I would recommend to any parent that they check out West Hills Montessori. Over the years, my children have been so happy at this school. We will be sad when it is time to move on!

My daughter started at WHM a year ago. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. The teachers are good with the kids and nice to the parents. My daughter has learned a lot in a year. She made a lot of friends. She is actually excited to go to school every morning. No drama! The school is conveniently located. It has 3 backyards for the kids of different ages to play. The summer program is so much fun for the kids.

As a parent you can ask a few preliminary questions over the phone but you won t get a sense of what a school is really like until you go there and meet the staff and director or pay surprise visits to the school. Above all you want to check the teacher- child ratio to get an idea of how many children are there in class as It s easier to give one-on-one attention and be responsive when there are fewer kids in a room. And the last but not the least observe how the teachers interact with the kids, make sure they re friendly, caring, and encouraging. I recently around 2 months ago got my 3 year old son Kevin( Kawal Pratap) in preschool with them, as a medical professional i was very much concerned about my child s development and esp at this age for him I was so concerned about a clean and safe environment, a challenging curriculum and experienced teachers and happy staff all this I got it from this school. The director Miss Shoush is a very understanding person, calm and prompt to take actions if there are any concerns. I came across Mr Jeff the owner of the school and I was very glad to meet him by seeing his interaction with the kids around. My sons class teacher is miss Mary and she is just an amazing person i have ever come across, so calm and always with a smile and willing to answer my son s concern( as he does not speak in english fully). But not to forget the other staff in the school the minute you walk in there have never been a day that they don t greet you with a smile. My son before this school went to a private school but it was totally opposite of what this school is. My son Kevin love this school and early morning thats the first thing he reminds me is Mom time to go to school and see Miss mary!! I have seen a huge development in my son in these two months and I forgot to mention that the school even provided me the entrance buzz key by which you can enter any time in school and I have done so many surprise visits and have always seen my son doing some kind of activity under supervision of the teachers. I am so glad that I found this school and what really makes us( me and my husband) satisfied is the cheerful atmosphere in school and all the kids seems to be genuinely happy to be there. A huge cheers to the owner, management and the staff.
