STAY AWAY!!

I live out of state and own a condo in Tampa Florida. Because of the long distance, I needed a property management company to find a renter when our current tennant left after 3 years. When I contacted Terry Hoekstra for a quote he was quick to get back to me and continued to follow up every couple days to "help" with the decision. At the time, this was a little annoying, but then I had to rationalize this would probably be a good trait in someone who was going to find someone to rent our condo.



My first inkling this was not going to go well was when it took 2 months for this company to do some minor repairs on the property. There was some painting, carpet cleaning, and repair on some of the sheetrock that totalled $850. So you can see that the longest it would have taken anyone where I live to do these repairs would have been a week. But since I had signed a contract, I thought, as long as they get it rented, I will be OK with the delay. Realize that the one of the main places Real Property Management Bay Area advertises your property is on their website. They refuse to use Craigslist or other sites because they would get a lot of calls that wouldn't pan out. Never mind about the few calls that might have worked out, they didn't want to do the work at all to sort out the two.



Now it is 8 months later and the condo remains unrented. Beware of an agency whose main priority is to sell real estate. I am now switching to an entity whose only job is the rental market. To add insult to injury, Real Property Management had the gall to charge me $350 to break the contract early. My advice is to avoid them completely and learn from my mistakes.
