Hampton Inn & Suites Waxahachie

We booked our stay more than a week in advance of our small wedding anniversary get-away. When we arrived to check in, they could not find our reservation. Luckily, I remembered to bring my print out of the reservations and eventually they were able to locate our names. The general manager of the hotel told us that she overbooked the room we requested (a non-smoking King Suite with whirlpool, including the Romance Package) and it would not be available to us. Instead she offered a smoking room similar to the one we booked but informed us that it would not be ready for at least another hour. Otherwise, she could downgrade us to a regular smoking room. We specifically requested a non-smoking room because of my husband's asthma, but that did not matter to her. She did not even seem to care that we had made the plans to drive up there and spend the weekend. She didn't even offer an apology. We asked her to cancel the reservations under the condition that she would not charge a cancellation fee. So far, not charging a cancellation fee is the only thing that this hotel has done right. It was probably just as well that we didn't stay there. When we pulled up, there were 3 police cars in front and several officers in the lobby arresting a drunken man. There were also a few people walking around, drinking beer in the lobby. Real classy. Unfortunately for us, we took the time and money to drive to Waxahachie and by the time we arrived for check-in and were turned away, it was too late for us to book anything else at another location. Ultimately, our anniversary get-away was ruined. Even after sending a complaint to the corporate offices, I have yet to receive any kind of feedback. Obviously, they do not care. I will never stay here again and definitely do not recommend.
