In September of this year, Mehri & Skalet settled one of the largest multi-plaintiff sexual harassment cases in history—for nearly $31 million plus very substantial programmatic relief (including mandatory scenario-based sexual-harassment training for new and incumbent employees and retaining a retired federal judge as an outside monitor). M&S represented more than 500 women in the case, who worked in a variety of positions at the Cook County Jail where they experienced egregious physical and verbal sexual assaults and harassment from male detainees. The lawsuit alleged the Jail administration’s negligent failure to protect these women from those assaults and that harassment.
