Rainbow Cactus Co

I've been to the Cactus several times before and never had much problems. I'm not a raging alcoholic and always drink responsibly and even take a designated driver with me. The service is usually great, the shows are somewhat awesome, the atmosphere is pretty laid back, but this one security guard always gets on an authority trip. He's from another state and is probably some higher security power there. Anyways, he stopped me as I was wallking up to the club this weekend from my friends car and asked if he could search it cause he saw me drinking a beer.(the passenger) Now in VA, the law states that the driver of the car cannot consume alcohol, but says nothing about the passenger. This has been a topic of debate for many years, but has always been open for interpretation. The law also states no open containers while operating the vehicle. It says nothing about while the car is off. So, being gay and limited on places to go to have a good time around people more like me, I now find myself even more limited on options. I just find it weird that the club will let you in to drink, even let you get toasted, but then says nothing about costumers leaving the club and getting into your car drunk! I've been there at closing before and seen this same security threaten to call police on drunks not getting into their cars quick enough. Be very weary about the bouncer with fingerless gloves. And apparently, you can't "pre-game" in the parking lot, even if you have a driver.
