Mercantile Restaurant

We were in Van Buren for the weekend and wanted a sit down type of restaurant for dinner. The interior atmosphere fits with the historical nature of the town. The staff was very attentive and the prime rib was cooked exactly as I ordered it. The only improvement I could see was around the salad bar. The plates were spotty and some of the spinach had been out too long. Would definitely go back.

The Mercantile Restaurant (formerly Michael's) carries on a tradition of fine dining in a 'smoke free' environment. Known for their great Chicken Fettucine Alfredo (the sauce is the best around); Strip Steaks that are perfection, from a great young male cook!
Occasionally, the wait-staff is a little preoccupied or over-whelmed, but not incompetent, and always friendly.
Daily Specials are a real bargain, and expertly prepared.
