Schnitzelhaus Restaurant

I had some fabulous weiner schnitzel here. The owner/chef and his wife try to lighten the mood by joking around a bit, but I guess some customers take it the wrong way and call it bad service. Relax you dorks, this food is genuine and perfect and I for one love the corny jokes. Take more blood pressure pills if you need to but dont knock this guy hes a great chef.

My husband and I had a very nice experience at the Schnitzelhouse Restaurant while visiting Tampa on business at the end of June 2010. We came at 7:30 not realizing they closed at 8:00 and the owner was very gracious in serving us anyway and made us feel very welcome and unhurried in spite of our late arrival. We found him to be funny and charming. The food was the best German food we had ever had and we both enjoyed it very much. The owner took time to talk to us and find out where we were from and tell us about his family and the restaurant.



We had a wonderful time at the Schnitzelhaus Restaurant and our only complaint is that it is so far away from where we live!

We visited this restaurant based on the menu I found online (despite the neg review on this site, they don't even have drapes at this restaurant so I think they left the review for the wrong restaurant. The "German" at this restaurant was doing the cooking and his lovely wife was taking care of the entire restaurant - german style (with efficiency and skill!!)....they have a wider selection of german food than I have ever seen in the states!! The food was superb! Everything tasted absolutely wonderful!! The portions were huge, so bring your empty stomach! The only comment we would make is that the ambience could use a little work. They need a better location and newer digs, but otherwise there are some great pictures and the biggest beerstein I have ever seen (and I grew up in Germany!!) Enjoy!!!

TOTALLY RUDE!



After seeing that this resturant was rated in varous news papers(one being the tampa tribune), I convinced my family to go check it out with me. We drove out today in this terrible rain storm only to be greeted by one of the rudest people we have ever met. When we walked through the door drenched in water the waitress/owner said hello to us us and at 1st left us standing in the door way without a clue what to do. A few minutes later her husband Mike came walking in from the back room and without even ackowledging us he took one look at my family and very dismissively turned us away with a " we can not serve you"( which was just short of dragging us out of the place). Now he did contintue to say that they were packed but from the looks of it, over half of the resturant was totally empty. Now im not exactly sure as to the reason why he was so rude, nor am I going to speculate, but there was no reason for it. He could have just as easily told us politely that they were just too full/understaffed etc and that we would be better off making reservations or coming back another day. IS IT REALLY THAT HARD TO BE POLITE?...well good luck to mike and his shnitzel haus because now I have told everyone I know not to go there and we will surely never return!
