Established in 1965, Southside Elementary School enrolls approximately 200 students and has a faculty of over 30 members. It serves students in kindergarten through grade three. The school s facilities include a computer laboratory, library, gymnasium and playground. Southside Elementary School offers academic instruction in reading, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. It additionally conducts classes in art, music and physical education. The school offers a counseling program that includes classroom activities and consultation and referral services, as well as individual, crisis and group counseling services. In addition, Southside Elementary School has a parent-teacher organization that sponsors walk-a-thons, Scholastic book fairs, field trips, family nights and other fundraising events. The school s media center is available for students to check out books and conduct research activities. The school is located in Sparta, Wis., and is a part of the Sparta Area School District.
