The Walk-In Clinic at Lake Cumberland Medical Associates offers efficient, cost-effective and convenient care from experienced physicians and providers.
Colonoscopy
Colonoscopy is a procedure that uses a long, flexible, narrow tube with a light and tiny camera on one end, called a colonoscope or scope, to look inside the rectum and entire colon. Colonoscopy can show abnormalities of the lining of the large intestine.
Electrocardiogram
The national benchmark for obtaining and interpreting an EKG is 10 minutes. At 5 minutes, Lake Cumberland consistently outperforms this benchmark, which facilitates early diagnosis of a heart attack for patients coming directly to our ED.
Immunizations
School nurses in these districts, working in the school clinics or through telehealth with physicians and nurse practitioners at Lake Cumberland Medical Associates, will help the districts ensure that nearly all the same services as before continue to be provided, such as medication monitoring and dispensing and acute, or sick, visits. These nurses, working, with parental consent, together with LCMA physicians and nurse practitioners, may also provide well-child visits via telehealth immunizations and physicals.

The Robotics Surgical System creates a customized 3D three-dimensional view that helps a surgeon choose the right implant for patients. In addition, the 3D digital model eliminates the need to get a CT scan of a knee before surgery, which reduces exposure to harmful radiation. The Robotics Surgical System also helps ensure that the procedure is performed as the surgeon planned, providing the benefits of enhanced accuracy compared to traditional knee surgery. Accuracy is essential because it not only helps the implant function as intended but also helps avoid uneven wear, which can shorten the longevity of an implant.

The Wound Care Center offers you and your patients access to state-of-the-art outpatient clinical wound care and hyperbaric medicine. We specialize in advanced wound care for wounds that haven't healed in 30 days, using a variety of clinical treatments, therapies and support services to treat chronic wounds. Our physician-driven, multi-disciplinary approach to outpatient wound care has a superior success rate in facilitating the healing process.
Minimally Invasive Surgery
While minimally invasive surgery effectively reduces recovery time and gives surgeons greater control, it may not be for everyone. Sometimes traditional open surgery provides surgeons better access to the area to be treated, and sometimes a patient's age, physical condition and surgical history may necessitate open surgery.

After his consultation, it was determined that Ben needed a knee replacement and that he was a candidate for robotic-assisted knee surgery. A robotic knee replacement is like a traditional knee replacement in that a surgeon removes damaged tissue in a patient's knee and replaces it with an artificial joint. The difference is that it's done with assistance from a robotic arm.

Bariatric Surgery
Gastric Bypass (laparoscopic Roux-en Y): This is the most common type of bariatric surgery. During this type of precedure, part of the stomach is separated from the rest of the stomach and closed off with staples to create a smaller pouch, resulting in less calorie absorption. Patients also have a greater sense of satisfaction with less food. The surgery results in less production of ghrelin, a hormone that may be partly responsible for making you feel hungry.

Following the accident, Ben went to a local walk-in clinic, where he received an X-Ray of his injured knee. After a visit with his primary care physician, he was referred to Dr. Jesse Pace, an orthopedic surgeon with Lake Cumberland Orthopedics: Sports Medicine. Dr. Pace's office offers a wide range of orthopedic and sports medicine services, including total joint replacement, fracture care, issues arising from arthritis and overuse, sports, or physical activity-related injuries, and more. "My primary care physician told me Dr. Pace was one of the best around, and I trusted her opinion," says Ballinger.
Physical Therapy
Ben does not minimize the pain associated with the procedure and the following physical therapy. "Whether you are at a hospital or home, there will be pain," he said. "I went to physical therapy after surgery. I also did therapy at home, which I think helped my recovery. It hurts, but it's necessary to get the movement back."
Occupational Therapy
