Overall
Whoever wrote the review on yp...

Whoever wrote the review on yp.com about the Chatham County Detention Center is 100% WRONG! Their inmate classification is completely Bogus, they mix hardened murderers with people that have been accused of committing petty crimes. They treat EVERY inmate like child molesting serial killers without regard to the severity of their accused crime or their innocence. The food and portions is mediocre, everyone who has to endure that horrid place loses weight unless they have money to buy their own food. I have seen underweight homeless people in there lose 10 - 15 lbs over 2 - 3 weeks. They do not care that there is black mold growing in the showers that 100 different men in one dorm have to share. And God help you if your a vegetarian, vegetarians get a small chunk of lettuce a couples slices of celery and possibly a few baby carrots and a spoonful of peanut butter for EVERY MEAL!!!!( Weighs about 1/8th of a pound, Barely enough to survive!) They serve food on insulated trays but dont bother to keep it warm, aren't you supposed to keep food a certain temperature? Especially when you get the food 3 or more hours after its made. This facility is unjust and and it should be a crime for such a place to exist! I have seen guards tazer people that are on the floor and complying just for a laugh. If you get sick in there, you better hope its not serious because after filling out a request for medical care, it usually takes atleast 3 days just to see a nurse for triage. I have seen people have to have digits amputated from MRSA (Staph Infections) because of the facility's outright disregard for the health of inmates and delay in medical care. And they also conveniently lose medical requests, grievance forms and other request forms especially if it is reporting a guard of something they have done wrong. I have seen people get seriously injured, hospitalized and even killed by their cellmate after requesting to be moved away from such person only to be denied. In the winter, most cells do not even get heat, you get a 1/4 inch(if even) blanket to keep you cold on those below freezing nights. I have had a cup of water freeze overnight in my cell! If your lucky enough to have someone to bring money to put on your books, you pay outrageous prices for food and hygeine products for exampl 85 cents for a 25 cent Ramen soup! A dollar for 2 aspirin! They claim to have a library for people to get reading materials but the book carts are ALWAYS empty. This facility violates fire code at ALL times as it is WAY over crowded, there are 2 people in every 1 man cell, 3 in the man cells, i have seen a whole unit wing locked down and have people sleeping on the floor in the day area. They think it is funny to give you undersized jumpsuits and only allow you to wash them once a week (Disgusting!), no wonder the place is so infested with Staphylococcus bacteria!
