Veneers

Crowns
Those who feel that they have a "gummy" smile can greatly benefit from aesthetic crown lengthening. We specialize in providing pulpotomy treatment that help saves damaged or infected teeth. Pulpotomy, also called “baby root canal,” involves removing the infected or damaged pulp from the crown of an invisible tooth while the pulp in the root canal is left intact.

It is important to your overall health to effectively treat and control gum disease. Gingivectomies are performed to remove and reshape loose, diseased gum tissue, and to reduce the depth of pockets between the teeth and gums.
Periodontal Surgery

Dr. Huamán is trained in the latest advanced minimally invasive surgical and nonsurgical techniques such as Laser assisted periodontal surgery (LANAP) which treats mild, moderate, and advanced gum disease without the use of incisions or sutures; the Pinhole technique which treats gum tissue recession and deformities using only one surgical site, avoids harvesting the palate, and is done without incisions or need for sutures; Periodontal Plastic surgery using a microscope for high precision providing perfect esthetic results; the All-on-4 technique that aims to restore edentulous dentition with a fixed prosthesis in one day. Further, Dr. Huamán is a Diplomate and Board Certified by the American Board of Periodontology.
Deep Cleaning
The general steps of scaling and root planing treatment may include a local anesthetic to numb the areas that will be treated. Your doctor may suggest a form of sedation, if necessary. The treatment often requires hand instruments and an ultrasonic tool to remove the plaque and calculus accumulation. Your doctor or dental hygienist will use the instruments below the gum line to clean the roots of your teeth and smooth any rough surfaces. The goal of this deep cleaning process is to clear away plaque and tartar as well as smooth the surfaces of the teeth to encourage the gum tissues to reattach to the teeth. Scaling and root planing treatment is most effective in the early stages of gum disease and can help to reduce periodontal pocket depths up to two or three millimeters on average.

Dental Implants
Patients who have lost teeth in the upper premolar or molar areas of the jaw often require a sinus lift, or sinus augmentation, in order to have dental implants placed. This can be due to circumstances in which the bone in the area where teeth are missing naturally beings to shrink or resorb over time, the roots of the teeth were originally positioned either very close to or within the sinus cavity, or the vertical height of the bone is not sufficient enough to support an implant. As a result of bone loss, the sinuses can expand to occupy the empty space where the bone used to be. With insufficient bone to securely place a dental implant, a sinus lift is necessary to move the sinus away from the roots of the teeth or to create additional bone in the area.

Flap Surgery
Osseous surgery, or flap surgery, is performed on patients who have moderate or advanced periodontal disease which has been refractory to other treatments such as scaling and root planing. Also known as pocket depth reduction, this procedure is performed in order to create a clean environment around the tooth so that it can be retained rather than lost. The goal of osseous surgery is to reduce or eliminate periodontal pocketing. Osseous surgery is generally recommended after other treatments have been explored and attempted, and is usually performed when pocket depths have worsened over time or have not responded to other therapies.
Gum Surgery
John Chao, D.D.S. developed and patented PST™. It is an effective procedure for restoring receding gums without gum surgery. If you have been diagnosed with gum recession, Dr. Evelyn T. Huamán and Dr. Nikko Johnson may recommend PST™ as part of your treatment plan. This procedure is minimally invasive and involves making a small pinhole in the gum tissue through which special instruments loosen the tissue so that it can be moved over areas where the gums have receded. Collagen strips are then applied to hold the tissue in place and to promote healing. Many patients that undergo this procedure are surprised at how painless this process actually is!

Osseous Surgery

Ridge Augmentation
Ridge augmentation is a common procedure performed to help recreate the natural contour of the gums. Often, after a tooth is removed, the bone in the jaw will begin to deteriorate and recede. The height and width of the socket, which was supported by the tooth, will begin to shrink after the tooth is removed. Many patients will eventually develop an indentation in the gums where the tooth used to be as a result of tooth and bone loss.

Dr. Turner began her Navy career immediately after graduation and reported to Naval Dental Center Far East, Yokosuka, Japan to begin her Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program. After completion of her overseas tour, she reported to Naval Dental Center Southwest, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego as an Assistant Dental Officer.
