Dr. Matthews grew up in Topeka, Kansas. She attended Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa where she received an undergraduate degree in sociology. After working in Greece for a year, she went on to earn her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Rocky Vista University of Osteopathic Medicine, in Parker, Colorado. Her residency in family medicine was completed at Texas A&M University in Bryan, Texas. Working under the Sports Medicine Association of San Antonio, she completed her sports medicine fellowship in the Christus Health Santa Rosa Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Program.

Physician Assistant, Andrej Arquitola, joined Orthopedic Performance Institute in 2020 after graduating from the UT Health San Antonio Physician Assistant Program. He is committed to providing quality, patient-centered care in the realm of orthopedics.

Nicole’s career in orthopedic surgery began in the Dallas area where she practiced general orthopedics, with an emphasis in knee and shoulder arthroscopy and total joint replacement. Seven years later, she moved to New Braunfels with her husband and young daughter to continue her career in orthopedic surgery. Nicole enjoys helping and educating patients in clinic, and assisting in the operating room. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys time with her family and friends, running, golf, and traveling.
