Hatfield-McCoy Lodge

Terrible experience. I had reserved a room a month ago for two friends coming to town. When they checked in, the management had already given that room to someone else. They put my guests in a room that was not nearly as nice, with no discount. We had the room for three nights, but the room was so atrocious that they could only stay there the first night. We got no refund. The management and owners were cold and did not care about us. We ended up moving up to the Holiday Inn and had a much, much better experience. Save the money and the headache and just go straight to the Holiday Inn or the Hilton or any other nearby hotel. I've stayed in many hotels, and I usually go with the small business/local business. But usually, that comes with the added benefit of being treated like a person. That was not the case here.

Myself and a friend stopped, Wednesday night, May 27th in Pikeville KY, and stayed at the Hatfield-McCoy Lodge. We stayed in room 108.
The place looked pretty good, from the outside. When we entered our room it looked ok too, until we started noticing how much dirt and mold was hiding in various cracks and corners; especially in the bathroom.
The shower was bad enough, that we would not use it. Should have left but what the heck, we were only sleeping there for one night.
When I got up the next morning, I noticed a few bites on my arms. At first I thought it might have been no-see-ums bites. Later, my friend noticed a few on the back of my neck and, BTW, he had none.
As this motel allowed pets, we thought it might have been flea bites and deduced that a dog had previously, probably slept on my bed.
After getting home, the next evening, I pointed the bites out to my wife and she counted a total of 87, all over me.
After looking online, we determined that the bites came from bed bugs. I immediately showered and my wife washed all my clothes and used bug spray on everything else.
Yes these things really itch, but there shouldn’t be any side effects.

I was hesitant on staying here by the outside looks with it being a small older motel! I was totally amazed by the room being so nice and clean! Price is great! Try it out!

Check your room receipts from the credit card receipts---THIS IS WHERE THEY SCAM YOU. ON THE ROOM RECEIPTS IT SHOWS THE REAL PRICE OF WHAT IS TO BE CHARGED BUT ON THE RECIPT YOU SIGN THEY HAVE CHARGED OVER 20.. EXTRA ON YOUR CARD. iT IS NOT RIGHT TO DO SO- i AM SENDING THEM MY(BOTH) RECEIPTS TO HAVE THIS CORRECTED, AND IT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED, BECAUSE NO ONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO GO AROUND TRYING TO SCAM PEOPLE FOR WHATEVER DAMN ADDICTION IT IS THEY MAY HAVE. aUTHORITIES SAID THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO SO- i WAS GIVEN THE QUOTE OF 55.65 FOR ROOM PLUS TAX- LEAD TO 63.00 NOT NO DAMN 80.00 SOMEONE BEST MAKE THIS RIGHT, BECAUSE I WILL NOT GIVE UP
