Established in 1957, Fern Persons Elementary School serves more than 400 students in prekindergarten through third grade. The school has a staff of more than 25 full-time teachers and paraprofessionals that includes classroom teachers, educational assistants, music and reading specialists, guidance counselors, student support coordinators, librarians, school nurses and custodians. Fern Persons Elementary School maintains a parent-teacher organization that works to foster close relations between communities and the school and welcomes parents to attend meetings and participate in its varied activities. It provides coaching and training in a variety of sports activities, such as basketball, soccer, track and field, football, golf, cheerleading, baseball and softball. Located in Olivet, Mich., Fern Persons Elementary School is governed by Olivet Community Schools, which operates three schools with an enrollment of more than 1,200 students.
