Dr. Reszel; You may recall that in June 2016 I came in because I had a loose molar and did not know what to do about it. Your thought was to pull it. Since I wanted a second opinion, you gave me the name of a periodontist in Niagara Falls. He immediately diagnosed a severe case of periodontitis with extreme bone loss and low-grade infection from bacterial pockets. He, Dr. Anderson, seemed nice enough but I could not afford his services. Accordingly, I searched around for a periodontist I could afford. That turned out to be Inspire Dental in Amherest. They immediately noticed the severe bone loss and infection. They also wondered who could not have seen such major problems. I had the required work done over the next two months of my summer. You must be familiar with the scraping, shaving and suturing involved. This was one of the most horrid medical procedures I have had to endure in my life. And I attribute the negligence to you, Dr. Reszel. This was not a problem that developed overnight. It took months, even years to get to such a serious condition. If you or your staff had only looked at my x-rays, or measured bone loss, you would have seen bone losses of 12mm and more. You knew or should have known of this developing problem early on, when repairs needed would not have been so drastic and I wouldn't be having additional problems due to bone loss and infection. I can think of many nicer things to have done all of last summer. I would like to propose a fair and simple solution to you. Bottom line, that dental work alone cost almost $ 4,000.00 and I am asking you to repay this amount to me. For settlement purposes only I am willing to forgo litigation costs such as wasted time, pain, suffering, attorney's fees and more. If you find this acceptable, please contact me at your soonest convenience. If you do not think this is a fair proposal, pleasea. provide me with copies of my medical records and x-rays; I will of course pay reasonable copy fees, . b. advise me of the name and address of your medical malpractice carrier,and send a copy of this letter to your medical malpractice carrier so they may contact me and we can commence litigation in Erie County Supreme Court.I am sorry this matter has come to this point.In light of your potential exposure, I believe I am proposing a equitable solution to the problem - no suit, no wasted time, no media and no outrageous expenses: just what the repairs cost.This offer is valid until August of this year.Very truly yours,James E. Dr. Rezell and staff are great. Very comfortable with them after my first visit. Very caring. I would highly reccomend them.
