Overall
Excellent choice

This place is authentically Cuban.

The service is very friendly and fast. And the food is delicious.

This family owned place is a culinary jewel of the area. I go there as often as I can. I recommend it.

Overall
My wife loves it

Okay, this is a split decision and not because the food was bad, but more because I didn't care for the style of food. Havana Cafe is traditional food right down to the plaintains. While I didn't particularly care for it, my wife loves it. One night we decided to do take out and my wife ordered from Havana, so I ordered from the seafood place across the street. The service was great. It appears to be a family owned business and is pretty busy. If you like Cuban food, then I highly recommend it.

General Info
Cuban Cuisine Cuban cuisine is a fusion of Spanish, African, and Caribbean cuisines. The Cuban style of cooking is simple in theory but complex in essence. Cuban cuisine has almost nothing in common with Mexican cuisine, which is a surprise for scores of visitors from the United States or Europe. Rather than being spicy as many people mistakenly assume, Cuban cuisine is extraordinarily flavorful. Traditional Cuban Food Traditional Cuban food is sauteed or slow-cooked over a low flame. Very little is deep-fried and there are no heavy or creamy sauces. Authentic Cuban cuisine is contingent upon a handful of fundamental seasonings, and several dishes use a sofrito, which is what gives the food its zest. Meats and poultry are typically marinated in citrus juices and then roasted over low heat. Familiar staples to the Cuban diet are root vegetables such as yuca, malanga, and boniato. These root vegetables are savored with marinade, called mojo.Cuban Cuisine Cuban cuisine is a fusion of Spanish, African, and Caribbean cuisines.
