Riding sessions for youth and adults four years old and up are scheduled year round. Sessions are approximately 45 minutes in length. All sessions are directed by a PATH certified instructor. Volunteers serve as horse leaders and sidewalkers. Currently, the center is able to serve clients affected by cerebral palsy, spina bifida, developmental delays, autism, Down syndrome, emotional and cognitive issues, learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, stroke and traumatic brain injuries. Hoofbeats will consider whether to accept riders based on our ability to serve each individual’s level of mobility in a safe and secure manner. Rider packets including but not limited to a health history (doctor signature required) and release and hold harmless agreement must be completed before a rider will be allowed to participate. All of this information plus available horses, volunteers, and equipment will be considered when making the decision whether to accept a rider. After initial acceptance, periodic evaluations from physicians will be required.
