- Desiree Ratner, MD, in New York City provides quality, patient-centered dermatological care to men and women of all ages at her practice in Manhattan’s Murray Hill neighborhood. Specializing in Mohs micrographic surgery, facial reconstruction, and cutaneous oncology, Dr. Ratner has more than 23 years of experience providing attentive care for patients. Dr. Ratner received her Bachelor of Arts from Brown University before going on to earn her Doctor of Medicine from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. From there, she completed an internship in micrographic surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center-Harvard Medical School and a residency in dermatology at the University of Michigan Medical Center. After finishing her residency, Dr. Ratner completed two fellowships in Mohs micrographic surgery, first at Tufts New England Medical Center and then at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, both in Boston. Dr. Ratner draws on her decades of knowledge and expertise to help every patient she treats. She has served on various boards throughout her career, including the boards of directors of the American College of Mohs Surgery and the Association of Academic Dermatologic Surgeons, among others. She is also certified by the American Board of Dermatology and has been included in New York Magazine’s best doctors list since 2009.

Provided by Doctor.comLarge, clean and pleasant office and staff. Completely automated, so no repetitive info required. You just tell them you are there and take a seat. Never waited more than 5 minutes. My 3rd MOHS. Checked doctors background, education and experience. All top-notch. Doctor even talked to my partner and called me after surgery to check on me. No doctor has ever done that before.

Provided by Doctor.comDr. Ratner reassured me that this would be a small problem and easy to repair vs. the large defect/skin graft from my prior BCC.
Her layout and staff made her office a welcoming and safe place during the covid time. I had 6 followup visits for mini cortisone shots to make the scar on my nose heal as smooothly as possible.
I highly recommend Dr. Ratner to anyone facing Mohs surgery, especially if you are afraid.You will be in the right hands.

When I told her that I had a young rambunctious toddler at home, she recommended a carcinoma removal procedure that took that well into account. Her staff was professional, friendly and worked with me to get my new health insurance information into their system.

Provided by Doctor.comDr. Ratner has performed MOHS surgery on both my wife and myself. In the case of my wife, the surgery was extensive, and it was on my wife's face. It is almost impossible to now to see that there was any surgery at all. I am extremely impressed with the results of Dr. Ratner's surgery, and as a bonus she is a very nice person with a great bedside manner. I do not exaggerate.
