General Info

Dr. R. Krishna Sanka graduated from the Duke University School of Medicine following an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT. He completed an Ophthalmology residency at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta and a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago. He is a native of Baltimore, MD, and holds medical licenses in Wisconsin, Illinois and Georgia. Dr. Sanka initially discovered a passion for medicine in an unconventional fashion at MIT when he conducted a software engineering research project in medical imaging at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In medical school, he was fascinated with the fast and tangible results of treatment of diseases of the eye, and decided to make ophthalmology his specialty. Dr. Sanka is happy to be able to provide comprehensive ophthalmic care to his patients. In addition to performing cataract surgery, refractive surgery like LASIK and PRK, and a variety of other laser procedures, he is thrilled to be the first and only ophthalmologist in the southeastern Wisconsin area to perform specialized corneal transplant surgeries such as Descemet Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSAEK). He is grateful to be part of a practice that has always been at the forefront of adopting new technologies to provide the best possible care for its patients. Outside of the office, Dr. Sanka loves spending time with his fiancé and exploring the local food scene. He loves traveling and participating in almost any recreational sport.
