Heart of Portugal Restaurant

I went to Heart of Portugal last saturday with my parents for their 30th anniversary. I had gone there previously with my husband and knew that my parents would love it b/c of its quaint, authentic feel. We made reservations for 6:30, even though we probably didnt need to...people didnt start rolling in til about 7:30.



The waiter and hostess were very pleasant and helpful with explaining things on the menu and the specials.

We got red sangria which was great. A little sweet but had the right amount of kick. For appetizers we got grilled calamari, steamed clams wt chorizo, and portuguese salad. The calamari was seasoned so well...was a bit over cooked but delicious. I wasnt able to eat the clams but my family said it was delicious...the green sauce was great. The salad was ok...the salad dressing was real nice.

For a meal we got grilled swordfish, goat, veal shank, and salmon stuffed w/ spinach. It was all sooo good. I am not a big veal or goat fan but it was seasoned so good and tender. Do note that the goat and veal are a lil gritty/fatty. It was a lot more work than expected but the meat was delicious.

I had never had swordfish before and was surprised at how much I liked it!! not too fishy...has a nice grilled taste.

The dessert was ok. We got flan and carrot cake. The flan was nice and light...the carrot cake was average...but thats ok. By that time I was so full.



There was live music, which was a suprise. He was great...not too loud and filled the air nicely. He was very freindly and came up to us in his intermission to talk to us.

We were there for almost 3 hours and the staff wasnt pushing us out and checked up on us enough but not too much.



Would I go back...most definitely.
