        L. W. Higgins High School offers a range of academic and enrichment programs. The school enrolls more than 1,800 boys and girls in grades 9 through 12 from Waggaman, Avondale, Bridge City and Westwego in Louisiana. Operational since 1969, it operates a parent-teacher organization and offers guidance counseling services. The school provides classes in physical education, English, science, social studies, mathematics, and fine and applied arts. L. W. Higgins High School operates drama and Christian clubs, as well as special education programs. It provides opportunities for sports activities, such as basketball, baseball and cross-country. L. W. Higgins High School is governed by the Jefferson Parish Public School System, which operates various elementary, middle and high schools.
