Montessori Academy of Long Beach

My oldest son began preschool at Petite Montessori when he was almost 3 years old, and he continued until he started kindergarten in 2011. Now I have my second son enrolled there as well! Ms.DeAnna is kind, gentle, thoughtful, and her methods are deliberate, engaging, and child-centered. Her staff is excellent and well-trained.The smaller class size and encouragement of each student to flourish as an individual definitely trumps a cookie-cutter preschool! The price is not the cheapest, but it's also not the most expensive. My husband and I consider it a worthy investment- hey, these are our kids we're talking about here! I highly recommend Petite Montessori to any parent or guardian looking to find a worthy place for their child.

I couldn't be happier with our children attending Petite Montessori and the quality of education provided by Miss DeAnna and her staff. The environment is calm, structured, and nurturing, with students allowed to pursue whatever interests them for the day. The small class size affords plenty of opportunity for one on one teaching which traditional academics (reading/math) but also includes music, dance, science, Spanish, yoga and sign language. Like many other parents, I spend a great deal of time researching other schools and even tried out a few other schools in the area. However, this school is by far the best fit for our children (currently 3 and 5 years old). In addition, Miss DeAnna and her staff have been absolutely wonderful in looking out for my younger son who has multiple food allergies. If I could give her school 10 stars, I would!

We were looking for a place that would completely support our child's love of learning. We get that and so much more. Petite Montessori provides an amazing extension of, and complement to, the morals and importance of learning and having fun that we strive for at home. We love how proud our daughter is as she talks about her day, what she learned, and her accomplishments. They fit in a huge variety of information and activities throughout the year. We were truly lucky to get an opening for our oldest daughter almost 2 1/2 years ago. As she gets ready to move on (undoubtedly prepared) to kindergarten in the fall, we are surely excited to have enrolled our second daughter there as well!

Preschool is one of those milestones I wasn't ready for when my lil one turned 3. Being a SAHM I truly enjoyed the time we had together but I could tell my daughter was ready for something more. I knew I wanted a Montessori school and I was lucky my first visit was with Ms. DeAnna because my standards after that where set exactly to what she offered at Petite Montessori. A clean, calm, gentle environment provides the children with a park like setting, an awesome play yard and a garden no less. Her curriculum is engaging with yoga, music, art, math, language, computer and life skills. After a year and a half my daughters independence and confidence is truly noticed. The teachers provide a compassionate and encouraging environment that is noticed on EVERY little ones face at pick up. My youngest will be 3 in the fall and go to Petite Montessori. Instead of the anxiousness I felt before it's been replaced with excitement because I know how lucky we were to find Ms. DeAnna!

She was more out-going and willing to try new things on her own. The school has not only helped to build her confidence, but also allowed her to grow and learn into a well-rounded individual. She learns so much each week and loves to share it with us. We now have our second daughter enrolled in school and she is just flourishing as a 3 year-old. Ms. DeAnna makes learning a fun adventure for the kids while providing a kind and caring environment, not to mention a super clean one too. I'm so glad that there are still teachers like Ms. DeAnna!!

We enrolled our almost 3 year old son in January/February of 2010, and couldn't be happier. After researching over 10 different preschools, and visiting about half of them, Petite Montessori was our pick the moment we met Miss DeAnna and observed the class. We were looking for a place that not only educated but nurtured, and Petite Montessori is a perfect fit! Jude is always excited to start the day there and is the happiest little guy when we pick him up. He loves to talk about all of his new friends, as well as all that he learned in the day, and we love all of his projects he brings home. We are so excited that he is learning new things in a safe, structured, and loving environment. We also appreciate being able to easily communicate with the teachers, and their effort in keeping the parents involved.

Love the teacher. Love the environment. Love the small class size. Cannot ask for more!

Wonderful School!!! I am very happy with our desicion to enroll our son Jacob at Petitie Montessori. Jacob is 3 1/2 and has been attending Petite Montessori since January (2010). He absolutly loves it and wants to go to his new school all the time. He has learned so many new things in such a short time. He is constantly singing and telling us about all the fun stuff he is doing at school. I would definately recommend Miss DeAnna to anyone looking for a warm friendly environment where your little one will learn so many new things and enjoy the time spent doing it.

My daughter started preschool with DeAnna Shelton at age 3. I am a protective parent and hadonly hired a babysitterafew times in her first 3 years. DeAnna's self-assured, grounded and generous nature quickly calmed my separation anxiety.
