Big box bikeshop -- don't do it

I made the mistake of purchasing a cross bike from Bicycle Village due to their low prices. After two weeks of riding this $1100 bicycle, the front derailleur was shifting poorly. No big deal, this stuff happens all the time with new bikes. I took it in for its lifetime of free service agreement. Two different wrenches made adjustments while I waited and it continued to shift poorly. Realizing it wasn't going to be a simple fix and they couldn't walk me out the door, they tried to convince me to upgrade to a better front derailleur ($300 upgrade). When I didn't go for that, they told me I was wearing out the chain because of the way I was riding. Both total B.S. Finally, I personally looked at the chain closer with the two liars standing beside me and it turned out one of the links was bent slightly, thereby causing the shifting issue. $35 later (so much for free) they changed out the link and it shifted like a bullett. I sold that bike and bought one from my trusted locally ow
