Divorce
An uncontested divorce is usually the most simple and least expensive form of divorce. If the parties agree on all issues prior to filing the Petition for Dissolution of Marriage, an uncontested divorce is optimal. Generally parties who enter into a Consent Final Judgment of Dissolution of Marriage are more satisfied with the result since they have control of the outcome of their case.
Child Support
A paternity action is generally established in one of two ways: 1) the Department of Revenue initiates a child support proceeding, or 2) the father or the mother of a minor child files a paternity action to establish child support and/or timesharing.
Child Custody and Visitation
In 2008, the Florida statutes were amended. The terms child custody and visitation were removed and replaced with parenting plan and timesharing schedule. If the parties have minor children, it must be determined where the child will spend his or her time, and when.

Premarital Agreement
A prenuptial agreement (also commonly known as a premarital agreement, antenuptial agreement, or prenup) is a contract entered into between two people prior to marrying each other, addressing issues of property, support, and attorney fees. Agreements entered into after marriage are generally called postnuptial agreements, or marital settlement agreements.
Spousal Support
As of July 1, 2010, there are six types of alimony: temporary, lump sum, rehabilitative, bridge-the-gap, durational, and permanent. The court can order any combination of these types of alimony; and that the alimony be paid in periodic payments, lump sum payments, or both. An award of alimony is based on need and ability to pay, however the court must consider certain factors in determining the type and amount.
Child Abuse

Estate Planning
A properly drafted and executed will ensures that your assets are distributed according to your wishes. If someone dies without a validly executed will (and has taken no other estate planning measures), his or her assets will pass according to intestate laws. A will also provides for specific devises - such as ensuring that your daughter receives your grandmother's pendant. If intestate laws govern, there is no way to ensure that your daughter will receive the pendant.
Wills
Answer: A will (also known as a last will and testament) is a document formally executed by a person (the testator) that specifies who will receive that person’s assets upon his or her death. An improperly executed will may void, and the laws of intestate succession may apply upon that person’s death.
Trusts
Answer: There are many types of trusts. A revocable living trust is a document formally executed by a person (the grantor) transferring his or her assets to a trustee of that person’s choosing. Generally, a person establishing a revocable living trust will name himself or herself as the trustee for his or her lifetime. Upon the grantor’s death or incapacitation, a successor trustee will assume the responsibility and either administer the trust for the benefit of the grantor and/or the beneficiaries, or disburse the trust estate to the beneficiaries.
Power of Attorney
Answer: Advance directives typically refers to three documents, a durable power of attorney, a designation of health care surrogate, and a living will. These documents are important in the event of incapacitation or incompetence, to ensure that your financial obligations continue to be met, and that your wishes be honored with regard to medical treatment. Further, a living will removes the responsibility from your loved ones of deciding whether to take or remove artificial life prolonging measures.

Bankruptcy
