I was supposed to have an operation done on my bunion 4/30/14 but they cancelled my procedure at the last moment after I had seen Dr. H Hewett 2 times and had already purchased crutches, walking boot, pain pilss. The lab work was done and the pre-op for the operation was done. The reason they gave was that the insurance did not pay enough to cover the hard ware needed for the operation which was $2400. I had contacted my insurance about that and they told me that it was supposed to be covered. When I told them I would pay the $2400. they told me that I could not because it was illegal to charge for something that was covered. The only reasen they cancelled was that the insurance company told them that it was illigal because the Docter and the Surgery Center had never mentioned that fact to me before.

They were very pleasant and took very good care of me, nice facility. Based on services I would have given 5 stars but...

Billing - Of course received the call the night before advising my coinsurance (I have no set copay, but coinsurance of 15% w/no deductible). We paid the morning of surgery. After reviewing my EOB I was billed ~$90 more than my 15%. I have been calling for 2 weeks to speak to billing person but "Margaret" never answers her phone or returns my voicemails. I will probably have to go in there on my way into work some morning but disappointment on this has lowered my overall score.

I will tell anyone to stay away. The staff is rude and unable to answer basic question. I received a call the day before my surgery was scheduled informing me I need to pay my co-pay before the procedure took place and before it was processed by my insurance company. I asked the admistrator if this was legal at which point she become defensive and and said "I dont have to deal with your legal threats." She proceed to hang the phone up on me.....twice!! I immediately call my insurance company as well as the Department of Human Services both of which told me that though it was not illegal to bill before procedures....it certainly was not ethical. Both explained "how was it possible to bill a copay before it was processed through the insurance carrier?'" Both my insurance company as well as the Dept of Human Services recommended that I find a new facility.
