The Worth Law Firm conducts a specialized business, tax and estate planning and probate practice focusing on personal attention to client needs in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost. The firm was founded in 1986 when Thomas A. Worth left his position as tax counsel for a large international CPA firm and established his solo practice in Greensboro, North Carolina. Through the years, Mr. Worth has focused the practice in three main areas of the law.
Wills
The Firm business hours are 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Appointments are scheduled during these hours, although special arrangements can be made with an attorney for other times. In most cases, fees are based upon the time and complexity of the case or matter involved. Flat fees often are involved for routine matters such as corporate formation or simple wills. Fee arrangements are discussed and agreed upon before work is performed. The members of the Firm take seriously the duty of preserving and protecting the confidential information of our clients and we take pride in giving timely responses to inquiries. The Firm is committed to utilizing the latest technology for maximum efficiency in service to our clients.
Trusts
The Firm advises and counsels clients on transferring property during lifetime or upon death utilizing special techniques to minimize federal and state tax liabilities. Emphasis is placed on business succession planning and the orderly transfer of assets to family members. In administering trusts and estates, the firm assists the personal representative with asset collection, paying of debts and expenses, property valuation issues and the preparation of probate accountings and federal and state estate tax returns. The Firm also prepares federal and state gift tax returns when assets are transferred.

Licensed to practice law in North Carolina, the United States Tax Court, the United States Court of Federal Claims, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and in Federal District Court for the Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina. Member of the Tax Law, Business Law, Estate Planning and International Law Sections of the North Carolina Bar Association. Mr. Worth concentrates on business transactions, tax law, tax controversies and litigation and estate planning. His practice is conducted throughout North Carolina and he has developed special expertise in the tax law of Conservation Easements. He regularly lectures on tax and estate planning matters and has provided technical manuscripts on Conservation Easements to programs sponsored by the North Carolina Bar Association, North Carolina State University and various land trusts throughout North Carolina. He has been on the Board of Directors of the National Committee for the New River and the High Lonesome Strings Bluegrass Association.
