Dog Woods Resort

DogWoods is the absolute best!! We have been taking our dogs there often for just about ten years now, sometimes for just a night or two, and sometimes for over a week. Theresa is so great with the dogs, and is very sensitive to individual doggie "quirks". It is such a relief to know that our dog is so well cared-for while we are out of town!! We will not board her anywhere else! I don't know what we would do without Theresa and DogWoods.... Highly, highly recommend it!! Even if you live farther away, trust me, the drive is so worth it, and your dog will love it!!

Theresa and Dog-Woods are fantastic. She loves all dogs like her own and caters to their every need. She even loves the more challenging doggy personalities. My 4 dogs come back tired but happy each time and have made so many doggy friends there. Love love love Dog-Woods!

Dog-Woods is a wonderful kennel-free facility that really is a vacation! Dogs are loved and safe on an 18-acre fenced property and are truly pampered at all times. Our dogs love it and can't wait to jump out of our car and into their yard. They sleep for days after their fun romps. Why would you choose small kennels with concrete after this? We wouldn't!

Web site VERY misleading. "Menu" listed, is nightly "treat" (unk if provided). No leave comment section on website. Even though paid for "cottage", both my dogs were found crated in office area, other dogs playing in the area i was paying for (double booked). Dogs do not have regular door for in/out access, but doggie door to a ROOM, in a sectioned out cottage. Grounds are filthy and you will need to pay for a bath. Website states free with 3 days, but Teresa (owner) stated, upon arrival "3 nights". When we arrived for pick up, we were "scolded" for being early, yet when Teresa came walking from her residence (clean of any mud/dirt) (interesting, when i dropped off, my feet and legs were filthy from the grounds, various dogs jumping on me), where she came from upon arrival, not out "walking, running, swimming" dogs (as depicted on website). I was shocked to find both our beloved pets located in "office" in one crate together, no food, no water. How long had they been crated? They'd already received baths. Were they to stay there until our later arrival time? Or, as pick up time neared, would they be taken out of the crate and put into our still paid for room? Teresa argued with me beforehand regarding treats, rooom vs cottage ("wouldn't you want them up front where all the fun is?" (what fun?), had allowed other dogs to occupy OUR dogs (still paid for) room and yard. I understand not letting them out in the dirty terrain after bathing, but she also "checked them out" of their room to rent to 2 others dogs, who we saw while waiting for Teresa to come over from her home. At the least, they should've been back in their room, with water and food, waiting for our arrival, not stuck in a crate, for hours. You plan a vacation, once arriving at DogWoods you realize you've made a mistake, but it's too late! You can't drive all the way home, call someone to home/pet sit, and then drive all the way back to where you are expected to check in minutes later. You are stuck to leave your beloved pets at this filthy, unprofessional, unloving place and pray for the best. I didn't see any green meadows, or swimming holes and never saw Teresa paying individualized attention to any of the animals. Someone should spend some time observing what really goes on at "Dog Woods Resort", especially to the old and frail. I can only pray, now they're home safe, no permanent damage was done. Shame on Teresa for the misleading, glorified website and, mostly, shame on her for her mistreatment of these innocent creatures. What is really saddening to me is, 1) I have to take the time to write this review to warn others dog owners, and, 2) she and her business was referred by nearby rafting company. I don't know if the person who referred me to DogWoods, but I think the only dog getting any attention there is Teresa's own, if she has one, located within her home, on site. It's not the money you'll save by hiring someone to come to your home and care for your pets, it's your peace of mind. Don't put your animals through this horror story like I did. Zero stars.

Our Rosie has been going to Dogwoods at least once a week for the past four months and spent 5 nights there over Christmas. She loves it, and so do we! The facilities are roomy, clean, and safe. Theresa and Helen truly love dogs and provide excellent care. They keep a close eye on the relationships to make certain everyone plays and has a good time but is also safe. They make it fun for pets and owners with photos, bar-b-ques, and stories of the developing relationships.
