Overall

Great selection of history books, specifically on the Civil War in the Western Theater. Quite comfortable place to read and visit with locals and travelers.

Just ran inside to escape the rain; what a cute store. Wasn't even planning on buying anything but I found a nice copy of a Faulkner book for my fatherinlaw's birthday & then the storeowner took me to a back building that is full of books where I got 3 books for $10! (not Faulkners, but still- thats McKays Cheap).

My wife and I visited this boo...

My wife and I visited this bookstore during the Pumpkin Festival. As we both enjoy reading, we wanted to check the place out while we were in downtown Franklin. We really did not have any intentions of buying or not buying anything. Had something caught our eye at what we considered a reasonable price we would have bought it. After browsing the selection for 20-30 minutes, my wife and I both needed to use the restroom. A man walked over while we were standing in line to use the restroom and began complaining about the line. I went into the restroom at about this time and after exiting the restroom he was still there complaining. It didn't take long before I realized that it was the owner of the bookstore. He asked me if I was going to be one of those people that came into the bookstore to use the restroom and not buy anything. I told him that I guess I was going to be one of those people but that I hadn't come into the store for the purpose of using the restroom. He told me that I could leave $10 at the checkout when I left. I don't think I've ever been treated so rudely in a business. I realize it must be frustrating when people are using your business as a place to use the restroom, but I can't imagine it is a very good business practice to be such a jerk to potential customers. We will never go back.

Go Here! I came in with my husband and I was so impressed. My husband prefers to browse on his own (which he did, and found some older beautiful books that are on display on our shelves) & i asked if there were any recommendations for presents/gifts (kind of expected the owner guy to show me the most expensive stuff) but instead he showed me some really beautiful coffee table books about williamson county & tennessee. I got all of my summer birthday present shopping done in one go.

So sweet!

Perfect Fit for Franklin

I was at Riff Burgers on Main St and went into Landmark Booksellers just a half block away when I was finished with my boyfriend.

It was the perfect way to digest my burger and get inside in some air conditioning (it was unseasonably hot). Me and my boyfriend walked around and browsed the two floors of books and ended up picking up a couple of really pretty old books that will look really great on our bookshelves at home.

I really had a lovely experience.

Do not go here

I had often times passed landmark booksellers on my way through the bustling boulevards of Franklin and recently on an unseasonalably-warm early springtime afternoon decided to succumb to my curiosity and patronize the local book seller.

Upon entering we were gruffly greeted with “Have you ever been here before?”

I relayed to the shopkeeper that we had walked past on many occasions and that we had decided to quench our curiosity and gaze upon the contents of there within.

She asked again if we were looking for something and I told her we would probably just browse around a bit. She looked very skeptical and then told us to leave our personal items in the front of the store all the while relaying very ineloquently that she was the only person in the store so that we would not be able to go to some parts of it, as well as that the books were out of our price range.

The woman working the store then alternated between following us around the store and mindlessly chattering with the other lone customer in the store. I had had fears of pretension and closed mindedness coming to this store and the proprietor did nothing but cement my pre-held beliefs and expand upon them.

Instead of browsing through the books and having an enjoyable experience I quickly glanced through the store and left.

If you want to feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, and completely distrusted Landmark Booksellers is for you.
