Dental Sealants
Sealants are thin, plastic coatings painted on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth or molars to keep out germs and food. The most important reason to get sealants is to prevent tooth decay. The chewing surface of our back teeth may have deep pits and grooves that our toothbrush bristles cannot clean. Sealants fill those grooves before decay attacks teeth.

Fillings
With a white filling, only the decayed portion of the tooth need be removed, which leaves more of the original tooth structure in place. This makes for a healthier tooth structure. Instead of silver amalgam, porcelain and composite resin are used to fill the decayed tooth. These tooth colored options are more attractive and will not leak or darken your smile, as a silver amalgam filling will.

This patient had veneers placed and was extremely dissatisfied with the shape and contour of his teeth. Notice the dark spaces between the teeth around the gums. This was a very simple cosmetic treatment.
Crowns
No. If at all possible, it is better to save the tooth and cover it with a crown. A missing tooth also affects the overall function of your other teeth. They are all needed for proper support and stability in your mouth. Because the teeth on the opposite arch no longer have anything to chew against, they may begin to shift out of the socket, which could lead to more tooth loss.
Bridges
A dental bridge can be used to provide stability to the patient’s mouth by replacing one or more missing teeth. The bridge is usually attached on both sides to adjacent teeth by crowns. The bridge is used to maintain space and function for missing teeth.
