Chazzano Coffee

Ferndale at its best! I give Chazzano's top marks for the diversity of its clientelle, quality of its products, its uniqueness, and the knowledge and friendliness of its staff.



I am a tea drinker, so I was delighted to find that this place known for its excellent coffee also has excellent tea! I thoroughly enjoyed several steepings of a wonderful Lapsang Souchong I was surprised to find there, and look forward to trying some of their pu-erh, and discovering what other types they have. The worker I spoke to, and the owner/master coffee roaster, are actually quite knowledgable about tea. I was pleasantly surprised when the worker offered a variety of differepnt milk/cream options for my tea, and in making a most excellent hot chocolate for my daughter! It appears they offer a choice of milk with every variety of milkfat, Half&Half, AND soy milk!



It is said that Ferndale is famous for its diversity, and in Chazzano's you'll find true diversity in its clientelle. This is neither your usual coffee house nor a typical Ferndale shop. One does not need to fit into any kind of category to feel welcome there. My love for great tea, and, for most other people, a passion for excellent coffee, make you feel like you belong there. The owners and staff are open and friendly, the interior is small and comfortable, and people of all types, creeds, faiths, lifestyles, shapes and sizes are welcomed. And, best of all, I didn't feel odd sitting in this serious-about-coffee coffee house drinking my wonderful cups of tea!



Chazzano's is located in an unusual area of Ferndale, in a more industrial section, rather than the crowded two block area of Nine Mile just west of Woodward. The location suits the business, as it feels like a little piece of New York City has carved itself out and plunked itself down right here in Ferndale. I would not be surprised if Chazzano's did not bring many more excellent, unusual small businesses into that area, creating a Ferndale that is not just another Royal Oak, but something completely unique in itself, new and exciting.



I look forward to returning, and highly recommend this unusual establishment to coffee lovers and tea lovers both!
