Over my years of practice, I have represented many local athletes including professional football and professional hockey players in their claims against their employers for injuries sustained in the course of their employment. I have successfully litigated cases in the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia for these athletes. I was instrumental in the fight against the Washington Redskins to prevent the team from permanently denying workers' compensation benefits to its players injured in the course of their employment with the team. I litigated a former players’ case against the team, to the Virginia Supreme Court, wherein the Court held that not only was the player entitled to benefits, but also that the team had to pay my client benefits for his disabling and permanent injuries. I also successfully litigated a case for a hockey player, who was injured in a fight during a game. The team defended the case based on the fact that the fight was a violation of the rules. As a result of years of hard work by the injured player and my office, we persuaded the courts that the fight was part of the game and as a result the player awarded wage loss, medical benefits, and eventually permanent loss of use benefits.
