Why does American Apparel feel the need to be pornographic to sell clothes?



It's sad that American Apparel feels they can't sell their clothing on its own merits, but must turn to offering customers a forum for sexual pictures of themselves in order to make a sale.



I was so excited to find out about American Apparel on a recent vacation, and bought a ton of clothes for myself and my family.



I was even happier, upon my return home, to see stores in Denver and Boulder. I was planning to do lots of shopping with American Apparel because I love the clothes and I love that they're made in L.A.



Today, however, I opened their web page to shop for my and my children's fall clothes, and was surprised to find pornographic pictures of people modeling underwear. Apparently, these were customers who took pictures of themselves, often partly naked, and usually simulating intimate relations.



Really? I honestly don't want to see that when I'm shopping.



In my case, at least, their ploy had the opposite effect.
