Located in Dallas, Citizens Development Center was founded in 1951 by parents of mentally challenged children, and was originally called Children's Development Center. The agency shifted its focus to the vocational training of adults, and became known as the Citizens Development Center. The center offers various employment services that include a variety of programs designed to support men and women with disabilities in seeking, acquiring, and successfully maintaining competitive employment in area businesses. Citizens Development Center has a more than 30,000-square-foot supervised work center located in Dallas. It also offers an enclave program, and case managers that help the client develop an individualized plan with goals and objectives for their vocational training, and job placement. Citizens Development Center also offers family and caregiver support, various social activities, and transportation services.
