I had a HORRIBLE experience with Dr. Foti. I went in for septoplasty (deviated septum) and rhinoplasty (because I've always hated the ball on the tip of my nose, and my nose was crooked). Insurance paid for most of my septoplasty, but I had saved up for a couple years for the cosmetic part of the surgery because it is not covered by insurance. A week after the surgery, after the bandages were taken off, it was obvious that the tip of my nose was still a big ball and still crooked. I mentioned this to Dr. Foti and he said it was just still swollen. I waited another 3 weeks and then took photos of the tip of my nose and my nostrils and compared side-by-side with my “before” photos…..it looked exactly the same! I went by his office and asked the front desk for a copy of my surgery report (which is legally mine to receive). I saw nothing on the report that talked about the rhinoplasty. I showed it to another nose surgeon and he confirmed that nothing about the rhinoplasty was in the surgery report. In my next appointment with Dr. Foti, I showed him the before and after photos and explained there was no evidence of the rhinoplasty being done. I also explained that I had seen the surgery report and it did not mention it either. Dr. Foti got very angry, said he didn’t put everything in his surgery reports, slammed down his paperwork, left the room and slammed the door! I was in shock and shaking! He eventually came back to the room and told me he would do the rhinoplasty, but it would cost me another $1000 for the surgery room which I had to cover. I asked why I had to pay for anything if it was his mistake. He got irate again and said I agreed to cover the costs of all post surgeries whether it was his fault or not in the contract. I should have just taken his to court right then, but I was so shaken up by his anger that I agreed and charged the $1000 on my credit card. The day of surgery came and in his pre-surgery talk to me he said he would not be doing any more surgery on me so I’d better be happy with what he does because if he has to do it again my nose could collapse. I was in tears and obviously angry because it was his mistake that had me in that situation, and it was his mistake that cost me another $1000! I wanted to pull out the IV, get dressed and leave, but I was afraid he would keep my $1000, so I went through with the surgery. I never went back for post surgery appointments and he never called to request that I go. I really didn’t want to ever see his face again. After my nose healed, I was fairly happy with the results, although there is a small bump on the side of my nose which another doctor told me was a small chunk of cartilage that had been carelessly left under my skin when he finished up the surgery. I do have to say that my deviated septum was repaired perfectly, and I’m very happy with the reduction of the bridge of my nose that he did. I do believe though that he lied about the cosmetic part of my surgery, charged me an additional $1000 unfairly, and abused me mentally with his temper. I would NEVER recommend Dr. Foti to anyone.
