Carmel Wayfarer Inn

The Wayfarer Inn does not receive my highest recommendation because their rooms are separated by thin walls and face on a courtyard, and anyone talking outside will penetrate your room and your sleep instantly. While in line with pricing in the rest of Carmel, and certainly serving a tasty and extensive breakfast bar in a charming dining room, this inn is simply too loud for us. The rooms are good sized, and the beds are pretty good (actually hard to find a good bed in Carmel- why is that?!) and they do have their own parking lot (also a rarity in Carmel). So bring your earplugs and give it a try. Wine and cheese in the afternoons in the dining room give you a nice break from shopping. The owners are lovely and chatty and frequently on the premises, and the desk help is usually efficient and welcoming.
