A bit of nostalgia, Gus is now the owner, Tom (his father) started it in 1936. Serving breakfast and lunch (open 6A to 4P, Monday~Saturday). Great food; wonderful, friendly service; unique period and eclectic decoration; small-town diner atmosphere. Sort of like Cheers. Gus may not know your name, but will greet you and treat you like family. Homey, small touches and the people make this a very warm and friendly place. Getting there early is a good idea, but if you have to wait in line someone will show up with cookies, coffee or fresh fruit. Definitely a one-of-a-kind place in Brooklyn or anywhere for that matter. A must see/experience.
