Contacts took 5 weeks. I wear Acuvue, other places get them to me in 1-3 days. They even told me they rushed the order... next...my glasses were off. I had to return the three times to fix! I've worn glasses for 22 years, the lens Perscription or axis was off, then scratched the next reorders. NEVER have I encountered such a bad office. They are friendly enough until you have a problem. Also 45 min wait... at least they show HGTV in the waiting room.

I came here a week ago for contact lenses. I did the exam and a couple of other tests which my insurance paid. I was given a single pair of contacts as a trial and rescheduled for a few days later for a follow up and to order the new contacts. At the follow up appointmeet I sit with the rep and go over payment options. My insurance covers $140 of the cost for new contacts. I was told after $140 I would pay out of pocket $76 for a 6 month supply. At the time I did not have the $76 on hand so I asked if I can do the 3 month supply. I was told the contact manufacturer did not do 3 months supplies, only 6 months and 1 year. I then advised them I wold contact them back once I planned on ordering the contacts. I wanted to shop around for prices so I called Bloomingdale Eye Care today and asked if I could have my prescription emailed to me. I was told I'd have to sign a disclosure which I understand. I told then I'd be in in later today. 5 minutes later I received a call back from them stating I have an outstanding balance of $76 that needs to be paid before they release my prescription. I asked what is this balance for because this is my first time hearing about it. I was told its an assessment fee. Then she explained that the fee is for the doctor assessing what lenses I should be using. I've never been charged an assessment fee at any other eye doctors before. I've never even heard of an assessment fee. I contacted my insurance company and they advised me they would not cover the fee because it's basically a bs fee that some doctors charge as a way to get a few extra dollars. Basically anyone getting new contacts here is being charged $75 just for the doc to determine which lenses you're going to use, this is in top of the exam charge and whatever extra tests the doc feels you need. Basically it's a sham.

I love the new staff at Bloomingdale Eye Care! The girls that help with glasses are awesome and honest. I felt comfortable right away. Great customer service. I went there a couple years ago to help my sister pick out frames and the staff was completely different and didn't seem eager to help. Definitely recommend going there.

Overall

I went to Bloomingdale Eye Care to receive a new contact lens and glasses exam as I ran out of contacts and my current glasses prescription was over 3 years old. The exam went fine, and the doctor gave me a trial pack of 5 lenses for each eye. I was told to schedule a follow up appointment the following Monday and they had to order more trial packs which I would receive on Monday to get me by until I could receive my official order.

The initial trial pack lasted until that Sunday as expected, but when I showed up for my appointment on Monday I was told that they still had to order the trial packs that should have been ordered the week before. They rescheduled my appointment for that following Friday, and I asked if I could get another brand to get me through until the order came in. I was told no, and told to check back in a few days when they arrive.

That Wednesday I called in to check to see if the order had arrived yet, and was told that the contacts were on "back order" and it could take a few days or a couple of weeks. I told them I understood that sometimes that happens, and then again requested to be given a temporary trial of another brand to get me through until they arrived. I was again told no, and then also told that if I wanted trials of another brand I would need to schedule another eye exam.

Appalled at this idea, I double checked just to be sure of what they were telling me and I asked "So I just paid for an eye exam last week, you want me to pay for another one to get a temporary brand to get me through until the trials I'm supposto have comes through, and then pay for a third exam to get those trials?" She said "yes, that is what you would need to do"

Upset I then requested her to email me my prescription and I would go have it filled somewhere else. I was then told that I do not have a prescription until after my next appointment for which I need to be wearing the contacts, that are on back order, for at least an hour. I asked her how I could possibly not have a prescription, I had the eye exam, paid for it, got the initial trial set of contacts that I need a prescription to get. I was told that I have to have 2 eye exams before the prescription is finalized. I then asked why and stated that I have never had to have 2 separate exams to get 1 prescription before. To which I was arguably told "well that wasn't here"

Essentially I and VSP were charged and did not receive anything other than my wasted time. I then had to go out of network to Target Optical to get another eye exam on short notice, of which I paid $140 for out of pocket. But, with the exceptional customer service that Target provides, they called Bloomingdale Eye Care to try and get the original prescription information so they could just give me the trials needed to go back to Bloomingdale and get the final exam to fill the original prescription. The Target employee was met with the same rude customer service that I was and told no. The first thing the Target employee said to me was "Wow, now I understand why your so frustrated..."

After my new eye exam, Target not only was able to write a prescription with just one visit, but also gave me the 5 pack trial pairs of the brand I needed, plus an additional 10 pairs of a second brand just incase I had any issues receiving my order. Well worth the $140 that I should have never had to pay.

Way too buys and too expensive...

Way too busy and too expensive. Rude staff. They have gotten too big for their britches and customer service has gone out the window. They rush you thru like cattle. My glasses I got there, I can't even see out of. They rush you thru the eye exam so fast. God forbid you have a question. They're not nice people at all and way too expensive for what you get. I'll NEVER go back there. What a waste of money!
