I had a ring that I inherited from a passed on family member and I needed a jewelry appraisal for my insurance coverage. I called them and they were very friendly and knowledgeable. I scheduled an appointment and they appraised my ring within an hour and I left with all my paperwork the same day. I felt nervous taking such an expensive item to a company i did not know and they made me feel comfortable while providing me with the details of my item.

First visit to them was in 2003. I'll be updating my appraisals this month (2008). They were very professional and even appraised some of my minor pieces. They provided a ball-park figure and then asked me if I really wanted to spend the money to get the small ones formally appraised, they didn't just take the pieces and charge for pieces that I wouldn't bother insuring. The appraisals were ready when promised. The appraisals were very detailed and included a picture of each piece. The appraisals were laminated and compiled in a binder. They discount (at least they used to) updated appraisals on pieces they'd already done. I just bought two sets of diamond earrings from e-bay and I'm bringing them here for a reality check. I trust these appraisers. By the way, they used to be called Elliott Gemological Laboratories and were located just a short distance from where they are now.
