Founded in 1961, the Ballwin Police Department offers a range of law enforcement services. It consists of more than 50 commissioned officers, over 10 dispatchers, numerous court clerks and nearly three reserve officers. The department is divided into various divisions, including patrol, criminal investigations, community affairs and traffic safety. It utilizes computerized criminal processing and photo imaging systems, mobile data terminals and automated external defibrillation systems. The department operates an academy that offers instructions on patrol techniques, crime scene processing, police communications and traffic enforcement. It also offers a drug abuse resistance education program that prevents and reduces drug abuse, violence and gang involvement among all school-age students. Additionally, the department offers courses in disaster preparedness, first-aid and triage, fire suppression and rescue. The Ballwin Police Department is located in Ballwin, Mo.
