Blue Ridge Printing was founded in 1972 with the purpose of supplying printed material for the Wilcox Travel Agency. The year 1981 brought the addition of the company s first four-color press. This marked its beginning as a full-service printer. Blue Ridge Printing developed a technology known as UltraRaster, a proprietary screening process. This advanced screening process allows it to print color quality using standard process inks. In 1995 the company purchased Preston Printing in Knoxville, Tenn. Complete with a Komori Lithrone 40 inch six color press with an inline Aqueous Coating unit, along with complementary pre-press and bindery equipment, the company could fulfill an increased variety of flat sheet needs. In 1996 it merged with Champion Industries. Blue Ridge Printing has locations in Asheville, N.C., and Knoxville, Tenn.
